I don't understand counting outs over 2 cards

If say you have Ah - Ks and the flop is Qd - 5c - 7 s

How many outs is there & what is your odds of drawing a straight?

Or if you have Ah - Ks and the flop is Qd - Jc - 7 s

Should you calculate your outs and odds on the flop based on you drawing a straight over BOTH the turn AND the river or JUST THE NEXT CARD? Why?

Hand 1

Assuming all your outs are outs.

you have AAA, KKK and a back door straight.
6 outs x2 = about 12% to hit on turn
6 outs x4 + bd straight (1.5%) = about 25.5% roughly

Hand 2
outs = AAA, KKK, TTTT
to hit on the turn 10 x2 = 20%
to hit by river 10x4 = 40%

*all are approximations using the 2/4 rule

Now sometimes your outs are not clean or counterfeited. That means even if you hit an out, it might improve the villain more than you.

So in hand 1 if you hit a A on the turn but the villain has AQ, its not really an out.

So make sure you take that into account and subtract some outs that might be counterfeited.

So hand 1 you put the villain on Qx which includes AQ and KQ so you take away a couple outs to compensate. You now have 8% to hit on the turn and about 17% to hit by the river.

Take into account both turn and turn+river. If you plan on getting it all in on the flop you need to know what your equity % is by the river. If youre not getting it all in and seeing a turn you want to know the odds of hitting the turn.

Outs are usually estimated for each street because unless you are allin there will be future betting and a decision is going to have to be made each street whether to fold or go forward.
You have 6 outs to top pair (the 3 other A's,K's) on fourth street and 12=2x6 to the river.
On the first flop you also have 3 to a straight, sometimes called a "backdoor" straight. Generally considered to add 1 or < out to the next street particularly in your case since it is not open ended and you would need to hit perfect J,10.
On the second flop you have a gutshot straight with 4 of the 10's as straight outs - 8 to the river.
