This is a discussion on I decided to learn poker, help me find the right material. within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; I will be glad to any material that you share with me. I want to do professional poker and make poker my main income.
Your question is hard to answer, because it highly depends on the level you play. Strategies differ a lot througout the stakes. There is tons of material available even for free. Yesterday I saw a video on YT, where the author promoted stop being a nit. While I agreed with him, that you should always 3bet AK pre I disagree with what he said about folding (actually not folding) a check/raise on the flop. At the micros a check raise is almost always a monster like two pair or set. Unless you have reads of that player, that he is a maniac, I would always fold TPTK in this spot.
I wont risk violating the forum rules by promoting others but there are certain sites that get found by my search engine again and again, when I put a specific question in the search engine. Actually this is my most valuable advise, I think: If you have a specific question, that arises while playing, just type it in the search bar of your preferred search engine. Question like "How to play AK" or "how to play draws" and so on. You will always find an answer but keep in mind, what I said before: Always watch out for which stakes the answers are suitable.

It's been a while since I read any books on poker, but in general, I find that poker players nowadays tend to be more aggressive than years before. More bluffs, bigger raises, etc.
So, maybe it would be a good idea for you to focus more on recent material instead of older books.
