Hypothetical situation: AKo and AKs

I know it depends on each context but I would like to know in a general way.

as you would play with AKo or AKs, regardless of the stack of other players.

1 - You are out of position (UTG, MP, HJ) and with effective stack between 10 and 16 bb.
How do you play here, try to raise and play post-flop?
Do you apply allin to avoid playing ranges?
In your game, between these blinds on your stack, what is the best way to play?

2- When in BT and CT positions, would you play differently?

3 - How would you act in blind positions (SM, BB) if you have walked?
If no player applied a bet and the BT opened at the maximum 3x, how would you play?

Remember that in all situations, they are 10 to 16 bb. If you do not have a default in this blind band, give your opinion and we will improve together !!!
PS: If someone plays different or has ideas, share in this post and we will discuss together !!

UTG I might fold. In position I would raise up to all in.

Having effective stack I will openraise from any position. If somebody already raised I will look at that opponent and think of his possible range. If it's loose enough I will 3bet. On the flop I will rather contbet. I will throw it away if two or more players went allin before me.

If no one raises and especially if someone limps in, I would have to raise no matter what position. Early in a tournament I'm just gonna see the flop and go from there maybe with 3x bb to get a feel. And late in a tournament I would say I'd be all in depending on the buy in and how much money is at stake.

But no limp for sure. At least a raise or all in. But like IcyNicy says if two people are all in before me or even after me I might lay it down due to a possible pair of some kind.

Good thread. [emoji41]

With 16bb if there's decent size antes I'm probably going to jam from the HiJack to the BB. From UTG to the LoJack I'm going to raise 3-4bb. If I'm raised by a LAG and there's 1 or less player left to act I shove. If I get 3bet by a TAG I'm going to call and play the flop anything more I'm going to shove. If there's no antes I'm probable raising 2bb from UTG to the HiJack. Jamming CO to BB. Unless I was raised then I would call and see the flop. I could justifying a shove anywhere in here or a call with any of these situations depending on the player but this is just a broad idea of what I'd do if I got moved to a new table and had to play with no reads.

The main position which you have not mentioned is tourney position ie bubble when I might fold it early position maybe play this hand All in every time with 10bb regardless of table position or whether AK suited or not otherwise just call and fold is ok too with 16bb if tournament has huge ladders and you miss flop:ahhhhh::ahhhhh::ahhhhh::ahhhhh::ahhhhh:

This a no-Brainer, this will be a shove each and every time. You're not going to be able to effectively play "post flop" with 10-16 BB. Get it in good while you have a premium hand no matter position. You try to raise here and you have to c-bet on the flop, turn and river. More than likely your stack will be going in the middle anyway.

Do you apply allin to avoid playing ranges?
You shouldn't care about hand ranges being this short stacked.

In your game, between these blinds on your stack, what is the best way to play? Same thing. All-in

2- When in BT and CT positions, would you play differently? Absolutely not

3 - How would you act in blind positions (SM, BB) if you have walked? Still Shoving
If no player applied a bet and the BT opened at the maximum 3x, how would you play? Nothing has changed.

When I get to 10-16 BB then one of two things has happened.
A) I made a mistake and have been crippled. I may be tilting by this time if it's early in the tournament. I can donk off some chips sometimes misreading my opponent. This doesn't happen often but maybe more then i'll admit..
B) The other situation is normally in the middle stages of the tournament. I can see the money but its not close enough yet and the blinds have reduced my stacked. Honestly I'm looking for a spot in the 20-25 BB range to pick and shove. Since i'm in the middle of the tournament i know there are others that are short stacked and will be in a shove mode. I am hoping the Ax is in their hand and I can knock them out with AK, AQ or even AJ. Of course it backfires at times. I will take AK anytime I'm short stacked and SHIP IT!

I am openshoving AK from any position this short. If someone bet or limp before me I am shoving over him. If this was a button vs blind, or blind vs blind scenario and I "know" my raise will get shoved, I may min raise. I am still almost always shoving.

For the most part you want to see 5 cards with AK and a stack less than 20 BB's - so if anyone opens you can shove and you can open-shove yourself if you want to. Not folding AK when this short-stacked ever, you block AA and KK which are the two hands you really don't want to see.

If it folds to me I'd still usually make my normal raise (2X-2.2X) to protect my steals and induce action. I'd take a call over all folds all day long (even if I lose some of those hands), AK is a premium hand with a short-stack and should be played as such. How you do with AK can make or break your tournament.

That being said, with a much bigger stack I'm not looking to get all-in pre-flop against a tight opponent, you'll be flipping often and beaten at times.

Good luck to you! :D

With that stack track you believe it changes because it's another tournament moment?
