Generally what should your preflop raise % be as opposed to VPIP%. Mine is staying virtually the same (only 1 or 2 points difference). Is this consistent with solid play?? They are both right around 20%.

having your VPIP and PFR similar to eachother is great! This means youre not flat calling or open limping a lot. I think its suggested that they should be around 1 or 2 points. Whether theyre 10 or 20 will depend on your playing style, table adjustments, stakes etc and will just show the % of hand that youre willing to raise or put money into the pot with.

Generally speaking PFR should be 80% or so of VPIP, give or take.

But also note that PFR is falling out of favor with the major trackers (PT and HM) who are trying to push players to RFI (Raise First In) since PFR includes 3/4/5bets which are counted in their own stats. Also with the new PFR formulas that both PT and HM use now, it's possible (over smaller sample sizes) for PFR to exceed VPIP, since only opportunities to PFR are included in the calculation. Unless you play primarily Super Turbos or All In or Fold games, this should normalize over larger sample sizes to a more conventional VPIP:pFR ratio.

Thanks for the info....I'm playing only MTT's and SNG's so nothing's indicative of ring games. Trying to stick to a tight aggressive style.

don't try to aim for numbers. what's important is how you adjust to opponents. if games are loose/passive, then maybe limping into a lot of pots is the correct play. if games are loose/aggro, maybe tightening up and open-raising is the best play.

Thats some outstanding info from dmorris. I also agree with PoopFlinger to some degree in that it's not important to aim for certain numbers.

My playing style and starting range usually keeps my vpip between 18-20% and my pfr slightly below that. If I reset my stats and check them a week later my numbers will be about the same. But it's not like I play less aggressively if my numbers go up or play more aggressively if they drop. I use them as a guage, not as a guide.

Yeah I'm not really trying to stick to a certain number....was just curious as to what folks who are consistently making money saw in there numbers. It seems as though its working though with the 80% formula dmorris spoke of cause that's right where I'm at and doing ok for now....thx
