all have retired, and the move comes to you in SB with 22, what would you do? How would you play this hand at the start of a league tournament?
without information about the rival since it is just beginning the tournament.

I would play very carefully, on such a card I need to watch the flop and then decide what to do next, there are players who go all-in on such a card and lose, play at a small bet and watch the flop and if someone makes big raises and reraises I fold such cards!

I think it's quite obvious decision here - we raise 3-4bb on and if the rival answers all-in we just pass

hands up against the BB who we know nothing about.....

I would tend to raise 2.5x the Big Blind. I would tend to do this with any two cards at the start of the tournament if it just happened to play out the same way, meaning if it folded around to me in the small blind. If it folds around to me in the SB at the beginning of a tournament I am raising the big blind 2.5x with any two cards because I want to get a feel early for how the BB defends his blinds, how he responds to aggression, and whether or not he plays back at me. Hopefully the BB just folds. If he plays back at me with a regular sized 3 bet I would call and see a flop. If he gets crazy and moves all in I dump my hand. If he just calls, I am going to auto c-bet pot size on the flop regardless of what the board looks like. Again hopefully he folds. If he does not fold I will re-evaluate based on what he does. If he calls my flop C-Bet then I will wait to see what the turn brings, do my best to read his hand range and then act accordingly. If he re-raises my flop C-Bet I will dump my hand unless the flop hit my deuces in some way.

a maximum of 3 bet and wait on the flop for another 2 to collect triplets, if the answer is all in this fold

Caution is the way to go. Ok to bluff and try to steal a small pot unless you happen to spike a set... but usually OOP obviously it's not helpful to your tourney life to go crazy with them.

Raise 2.5x pre and continue to evaluate on the flop. Remember most of the time your opponent will miss the flop, but take a look at the board and proceed carefully from here.

If you do hit a set see the board and proceed accordingly as to wether it is dangerous and you need to take it down quickly or if you want to extract maximum value.

If someone opens EP/MP I fold unless I have a big stack, then flat for set mining.
If LP opens then shove if I have less than 20BB.Or flat if I have a big stack.
If no one opens then, less than 20 I shove,if 20-30BB complete the BB,if >30BB open 2BB-2.5BB.Also depends on BB stack, stage of the tournament etc.

Depends on who the big blind is. Tight player obviously you make your standard table with raise any 2 cards you have, as long as you feel like they won't get their back up. I might just fold it as well is there is no ante. Like any small pair don't get to attached to them. I hate counterfeit boards and 2-2 is the hole is a great way to lose that way.

this may not be helpful information as such but i have all out of confidence with this hand and have been folding it every time for a good while, helpful information here though is that this is something i know i need to overcome because the remembrance of fails on such certain semi strong hands like 22 is also unhelpful to yourself and unhealthy for your game. soon enough i am going to try to see flops cheaply with this hand.

It's not too bad a hand heads up with the big blind. A small raise 3 to 4 bb, if he raises fold

I like to raise up a pair of ducks...although if the BB jams, don't get carried away - these are ducks, not lions.

I think it really depends on what you've seen of the BB player. And the stacks of each of you.
In general terms, I would 3BB or 2.5BB. If the BBp reraises, hell no. Get back. Chances are that he has anything from T to Ace, and although you have a pocket pair, it's the smallest and weakest one.
However, if the BBp is the bigstack bully, chances are that he's to raise, to deny that easy money for you, so I wouldn't raise against a chipleader in that situation. ;)

I usually call which does not concern me. My worry , then is the big blind does an all in.

I would try for the steal with a standard opening raise. At worst you end up folding if the BB goes all in. At best he calls and you hit trips or better on the flop. Most likely, in my opinion, is you pick up the dead money with continued aggression unless he has a hand.

I would usually call try and hit a set then get out if I don't but what others are saying is true depends on who you are playing against.

With a loose/splashy BB and it has folded around to me I probably just fold. A Nit and I am definitely rasing. TAG in the big blind it is a complete or raise. In either case if he makes a bet over top I am folding.

Full ring table, with one raise and two or three callers behind I am set mining. It is unlikely the BB will come overtop but if he does I fold.

If just one raise from HighJack to the Button it will depend on my read of the individual and I can be folding, calling or raising and evaluating the flop. Again If the BB comes over top I am folding. :jd4:

...how much stack you have.
