What can happen worse than when you sat at the table, you get dealt instantly first hand, placed at the BB and get dealt with small pocket pair... what to do...

the table is 2 or 4NL at PKR which is mostly loose, with lot of callers...

I have read the articles about setmining and i thought that i understand it but what actually happens is that im turning to a calling station with an excuse that i have implied odds if i hit set, what im doing wrong?????

Im playing at PKR for like a month or so, i only play one table at the time and play like an hour or so which is about 50-60 hands, i cant complain, i started with 20 bucks while im now about 37 after bout 1k hands, i know that it isn't much but i only play one table and the game is really slow...
To be honest i have a feeling that when i hit set i really get a lot of value from the hand when i hit but is it loosing money to call a preflop, call a c-bet but fold the turn bet when you end up heads up with the raisor... With my moderate understanding of pot odds i think that 4-5way preflop and and 3way on flop gives me a good odds to see the turn but then when i see half pot bet i mostly fold (not want to get deeper into explaining but ill fold if he shows strength through all streets or blablabla)....

Anyway ill like to hear some personal experience with setimining, is that the only way to play pockets, it would be nice to see some examples, i could post some hands from PKR but the only way i know how is the youtube vid...

Thanks in advance

Love Draza...

yep man, the op is too vague. To get better advice try to post some HH.

from the PKR Game FAQs:
To see your hand history click on the Hand history tab on the right hand side of the screen.

Your hand history is also saved as a text file to your pc. You can find it in DOCUMENTS > PKR > HAND HISTORY

then copy/paste the HH into an hand converter, get the output and post here into the forun (i normally use this: http://www.handconverter.com/ )

I hope this helps :)

One of the most important things to consider when set mining is stack size. Both you and your opponent should have 10 times the amount that you have to put into the pot to make the call. You'll flop a set about 1 in 7.5 times, but you won't always get paid off so you need to have more than the 7.5 times stack size to make up for the times you hit the set and don't get paid. Having well over the 10x calling amount behind is much better.
If you miss your set with a small pair it's generally best to let it go especially until you get more experience playing. You can loose a lot of money by calling a c-bet with a small pair then folding to a turn or river bet.

^^this.

Doyle Brunson wrote on this subject "No set, no bet", meaning that you should generally let it go if you don`t hit the flop.

The main exception would be if you know from experience that villain will c-bet 100% of flops and has likely missed himself, in which case you could attempt to take it away from him by re-raising his c-bet, or by floating (ie. calling his flop bet with a view to aggressively betting the turn and taking it then).

Depends on stack sizes and position..and table dynamics there is no one asnwer that covers all.

thanks for the replies guys, i was little upset after last night session, i think that folds i made was good, maybe could consider calling c-bet little less, the 99 all in call is something that shouldn't happen, same session i also folded few pockets to a preflop shove...
What im almost sure is that because of table dynamic i get good money when i flop a set because most people there would call with top or even middle pair...

K so

Hand 1: 3bet pre definitely. As played, if anything, I float there on the flop. Raising isn't great though. You fold out everything you beat. And as played on turn, I x/f. The best case scenario is he has some KT or 9T or something. Thats optimistic. Just fold

Hand 2: Im opening pre. Some may say checking behind is ok, but id rather go to the flop heads up. As played on the flop, I think floating is fine. And folding turn is fine as well.

Hand 3: Fold pre, that simple.

Last thing, in order to set mine properly, you need need neeeeed to be full stacked! Well really in order to play poker properly, you need to be full stacked lol.

Full buyin plus auto top up. And also yes of course make sure its within a good brm to play the limit you're on. Though at 2nl, being the lowest, its ok to break that rule a bit because you gotta start somewhere. But overall, if you are a winning player, even in the slightest, you are KILLING your winrate by not being full stacked 100% of the time.

I mean ya know dont get carried away or anything. IF you are a losing player, just be careful, do some study. Don't multitable at first and really focus on your game, ranges, bet sizing, board texture. I'm not saying you are a losing player, but if so, just take it slow. Auto top up is still a good thing. Just remember a big tip that is soo obvious that helped me but we just don't wanna believe it. People ARE NOT bluffing as much as we want them to be. Obviously there will be times to hero down that make sense, but severely limit these times at the super micros. People just don't bluff enough trust me. Let us all know how it goes. Maybe start up a cash thread, throw some hands and stats in (if you have a HUD) and people can give you a hand :)

I'll definitely made a cash game tread really soon, i only play single table and at PKR dynamics and micros traffic i could only play like 60 hands per hour and sometimes even cant play because all tables are empty only one is playing and i sometimes wait for like half an hour, i dont think that my tread will be interesting but ill do it soon

i dont have hud but this is how i did so far
this stats include yestedays loosing session at 2nl which made mo to start this
today i play 51 hand so far and im $2.77 up...
