I am a recreational poker player at the moment, playing only when i have the available time as i work shift work on a 4 and 2 schedual switching from nights to days inbetween days off. I work my life away as anyone trying to get ahead in life would. However im noticing that no matter how long and hard I dream of becoming a regular at a casino or home games, i am never actually going to be in a position to do so until i move to a location which allows me to play everyday .. consistantly.

I live approx. 2 and a half hours away from the closest casino that has live dealers and poker tables, and due to my work load i cannot make time to drive down. I find myself in a constant loop of doubt as i can only realistically play online when i have the available time, but im constantly burning through $100 deposits bluffing in marginal spots to make a quick buck in cash or zoom games, or buying in tournaments (i know i dont have the time to finish) but the top prize gives me the "what if" factor.. and i end up getting a bad beat or even just lose a hand to a better and i get so tilted because i knew i blew my bankroll again.

Im a very honest person and i hope that i dont sound like im complaining, i am actually hoping to gain some knowledge or get some help through comments or suggestions as to how i should TAKE ACTION in my situation. Ideally im a much better live player then online, i can honestly say i am a profitable cash player and it is way more enjoyable to be a part of. So that is the ideal path id like to follow, any suggestions would be so helpful (how to build a roll for once i move, how i can move faster, things to consider, neccessary steps...) 20180325 204038

Hi,
Welcome to CardsChat!
If you search the forum, you'll find lots of excellent advice. From the top of my hat a summmary:
- get grip on BRM; bank roll management
- start with freerolls to build bankroll (if you are patient enough), or deposit
- play micro 1 table SNG 6-max & study until you cruch it
- scale up to 9 and multi table and stakes
- allow for a learning period (cost) in BRM every time you change game type

What 8bod8 suggested. I am in the same boat. Closest live play is 1.5 hour drive. Home duties and 8+ hour work days.

Before I found cardschat I was under the impression that online poker was not available.

I was playing the playmoney pokerstars and wsop. I was researching whether the sites were rigged when I found this site.

I soon after signed up and deposited $25. Now I am at $70 playing .01/.02.

I have a few rules I follow. If I lose three buyins then I am out for the night. If I am 3 three buy ins aheax I generally will leave as well depends on the action.

I just recently started try the next higher stakes.
