Someone with even more experience will come along but it depends primarely on position, stack size, effective stack size, effective big blinds.

For example I think a lot of people would advocate 33-77 pairs being shoves from late position if no shoves ahead of you and you have less than 10 big blinds. As for face cards with suited x, suited connectors, or Ax suited/off there are push/fold charts people often consult to get a rough idea of ranges where you want to get all in pre.

Also have to consider small pocket pairs can be great for set mining on a cheap flop. If i'm over 10 big blinds and have some room to maneuver I'll flat call a small 2-3x raise pre in mid to late position, catch a set and I'm likely check raising if its one on one or raise 1/4-1/2 pot on a dry non drawy board and 3/4-1.5 pot on wet draws and scary boards.

On a humble brag I won a tournament recently with A10 off on the button versus the other player who had A9 off. Generally off suits of these I'm hesitant to pay more than 2-3x BB pre flop to see the flop, but if I'm late position and no aggression before me I might raise 2-4x BB.

TL;DR - play small pocket pairs from late position more widely to set mine. If less than 8-10 BBs and no shoves ahead of you, consider shoving pre. Be cautious with Ax.

Normally I would up the big blind by raising one time - unless someone has already raised, and if you don't hit that card on the flop or the next turn card, fold if the pot is being raised and stay in if you can check.

Small pairs in position just flat. SB, BB 3bet-fold. Ao with low kicker never flat, just do 3bet, you have blocker it's likely opponent have something like AK, AQ and won't hit on flop if he just flats.

I like to play small pocket pairs for set value in the early stage of tournaments and SnG.

But like saied before will dependes of many factor.

If u has more than 20BB, you can play for set value, but u need to consider your pot odds, how much the others guys bet? and how much you need to pay for call. The effective stack for see how much you can win of chips, consider the CALL 15, u can win 15x of chips u put on pot?

A lot of sttuf to consider.

And when in middle stage, generally on SnG 45p, is not very good to play for set value, because don't worth put chips in pot so many times, for make a set only 1 of it 6 times. And the most of the time you won't get 15x of chips you put on pot.

Lates i will made a post detailing this subject

Small stops are very good but be careful not to risk too many chips and able to assess the table and face vs how many players you

Don't play small pairs early in the tourney. You want to play them close to the button or on a short handed table.

Only call a raise that are 5% or less of effective stacks. If more than that it's really opponent dependent.

This is one way not to play small pairs, and I see it happen more times than I can even believe. I'll use myself as an example. I have AA UTG and I don't want to run everyone off, just the ones who have a trash hand, so I 4bet and everyone folds but one player, and he goes all in. WOW thanks. He has 55 and loses. My point is why would anyone raise there when they can see the flop for 1/4 of their stack. Can some one explain that to me. The way to play small pairs is to know what position is good to play them in, and then is the pot worth calling with small pairs. I hope someone will say something if I'm way off base, because I'm here to learn too. GL to you

Depending from position: Early- call/small raise (but dont be very aggressive)
Late - raise/allin. (you can be more aggressive)
And depending from situation: other player actions, your stek and other.

But always you can find better information on the internet or poker books.

Think of the term set mining.

The best position to play small PP's is when we are IP we can call and hope to hit our set on the flop.

If few players and they play very carefully then need to see the flop. If opponents checked at the end of a small bluff pertinent. Is necessary as to pay attention to the position.

Depending on the position, stack size, the behavior of other players and the stage of the tournament. With a stack above average, I will play 90% of small pairs. But with an average stack and below only if you can see the flop cheaply. It often happens that on the table, handing out several pocket pairs and then becomes a big underdog with 33-77 pairs. But there are successful band when it is possible to catch every second hand set. Of course luck and mathematics not seem to fit, but the tournaments are not so simple I spent. There are tournaments where you do not give a monster or even cards like AK, AQ QQ, JJ, and you're pretty easy to get to a final table. But there ineudachnye tournaments when after 2-3 crossings AA, KK you remain empty. It is very common for games on pokerstars.

it also depnds on how other play...for example i once played in a trorney...about 1800 with 300 people left ..i had 44 i raised 3 BB , the nxt one went all in with A2 and i folded..the flop was 554...that hand could be a game change for me in that stage..i was so happy when the player with all in got kicked out :))

I stopped playing a lot of the small pairs when I kept losing to a bigger set. Now I'm extra cautious even if I hit a set on the flop.
