I began playing at various poker sites but continuous became a regular on 888 poker. I've been playing poker since I was 14 and played on Zynga Poker; Facebook. I thought I knew a lot about the game 6 months ago, but to my realization I knew nothing. After losing thousands of dollars- 3000 to be exact, I decided to take a 4 month break from 888. I'm currently in month 2 and one question that has been killing me is, "how to play poker at the beginning". What I mean by this is, I started to play at limits 50 to 100 Nl on Stars with only a sufficient bankroll to hold 10 BI's or even less. For some reason I made a lot of money, however I lost all of it in due time ( see my other threads ). I would like to learn how to play poker at 10 NL. I have played on this limit before but only stayed at it for a short period of time. My plan is to deposit 1000 and multi-table 4 tables at this limit. I heard something about abc poker the other day, could this be profitable at micro stakes? I'm a low level thinker might I add, so the creative plays only work for me at 50 NL. I've notice when jumping higher stakes, players are able to exploit this really fast. I've also notice creative poker doesn't work well at 10 Nl- a main reason why I don't play at that level any more. Another problem I find is, since I've played as high as 400 NL, 0.5 to 0.10 doesn't seem like anything to me. Noting this is true in many cases, even jamming full stack seems like nothing to me. How can I value low level money?

Maybe start at 2NL for a while, then move up to 5NL then 10NL, then stay there till you crack it. It might make $10 seem more worthwhile.

Also, it might be good to separate your mind from the money involved and just focus on the decisions and the play. Specifically, the correct decisions and optimal play.

Think about your plays in terms of big blinds and not $ amounts.

Start at 2NL. Treat your situation as a new beginning. Learn to be a winning player from the bottom up.

There are two ways to learn: the books and the experience. The books are less expensive, but the experience should be concrete so long as you are learning. My advice is to never stop learning as you play and read.

I personally like to fold a lot. I like to play when the odds are on my side, but sometimes you can't help it and so learning the ins and outs would benefit any serious poker player.

How can I value low level money?

The game doesn't value any money at all. All the game values is if you get to showdown with the winning hand. All you need to do is value the game.

It sounds so simple but my bet would be you can't even do it for 10 consecutive showdowns at 0.01/0.02.

Think you can prove me wrong? Well then finally begin playing poker... win-win.

Deposit a smaller amount and use strict bankroll management when deciding what stakes to play. Maybe do $100 and play .02/.04 until you can move up.

Maybe an even better way to learn the value of $1 or to value your money is to try building a bankroll from $0. It is very hard, but can be done.

Hopefully you can turn it around and play some winning poker!

You should beggining in lower levels like 2NL and then going up gradually, but try to get expert on 2NL tables, you can do a nice bank there.
