too broad a question. Tournament or cash? Stage of the tournament? What kind of pocket? What stack? Opponents? It's best to spend time and look for answers on the forum, a lot of useful, watch the video as professionals play. Good luck to you!

In tourneys , I wouldn't play those hands , except , when you're push or fold (10BB) ;

I prefer to wait, strong hands and monsters to play in the tournament start.
Even you have a lot of bingo player and this can hurt you.:D:D

Unraised with small pairs I usually raise in position.

If its been raised I may decide to see a flop depending on raise size/opponents.

It it gets 3-bet I'm done with the hand.

If I'm less than 15bbs and its folded to me I will shove or fold depending on the villain who raised.

You don't want to commit alot of your chips with small pairs unless you are shortstacked. If you can get in cheap and have good pot odds to set mine then you can.

-22,33,44 only in position and fold if you don’t connect on the flop
55,66,77,88 raise pre-flop to narrow the field but prepare to fold if flop is high
9’s up to J or Q you should play hard from pre
Kings and Aces either all in from pre or see the flop and trap your enemy (danger!)

The strength of a pair of hand, not to play it as such, the goal is to make a set. If you are playing 22 33 44 and not hit a 2,3,4 flop, this hand is over for me. So if you're playing small pairs, you should throw them always "set-mining."

Early stages in tournaments its good to try and call for cheap and try to flop a set with small pairs, good way to win a big pot you'll usually have th best and that's very disguised!

2-2 thru 5-5 in early position are set mining hands for me il fold if it raised more than 4 bb,s-they don't hit a lot but normaly pays well when it does-middle position is realy villain dependant imight fold to a raise or imight raise myself-late position I is when I would raise or reraise with them

In tournaments, if you are in a position, always raise, throw or go all-in. Call is not a good choice, always be aggressive.
In the initial stages of tournaments, 4BBs bet 30 or more Stack. If your stack under 25 BB, this is the middle phase, raise it with 2.2 BB
If you stack under 15BB, switch to all-in or fold strategy, so you either throw or all-in.

Depends what the position is and who is left to act after you.If it's a cash game for example from MP small pairs will usually be a fold but you can call them on the btn.

Playing pocket pairs

Early tournament - stakes are low and always credible if possible to peel a flop and move from there

Bubble time and you are SS..if you are right on that and in position, i would consider a jam depending on number of players live and who covers you or is likely to be crushed by calling you..being aggressive around the bubble is sometimes an optimum play

ITM.. again factor in whether you are prepared to play several streets as if you miss the flop and you are holding a small to medium pocket pair..there is every chance you will get raised or forced to play for stacks..

Holding a monster chip lead...ive said this time and time before..its relative to the effective stacks you are playing..its amazing how many times i have seen pockets that were 22 up to 1010 force AK AQ AJ to fold..big stacks with AK AQ AJ/KQ do not like being reraised - some will jam over top but more will fold in my opinion..

Raising or reraising in position is also a good play if you have decided that your pair is worth working..just have it in your armory to fold if your 3 bet goes to 5 bet. Too many players today bust out on low pairs seeking a hero turn or river..:)

remember as pretty as pockets look..they can also entice unnecessarily!

You can save a lot of chips folding and resisting sometimes.

advice from Daniel Negreanu: with small pockets, try to see a cheap flop in the hope of getting into the set. And so, if a passive game to the river, there is always some kind of showdown
