Say you are in the first few hands of a freeroll with aces or kings. Do you just raise/3 bet when the action comes to you as you probably would usually do or do you shove in the hope you get a loose caller? Personally, I usually shove, knowing I'll be usually 70-80% favourite against 1 caller and thinking if it's right at the start of the freeroll, people can be reckless and just go for a lucky double up. But I'm inexperienced and this might not be the best play so want to know what others think. Certainly I wouldn't be confident doing this with something like AJ, just for the absolute premium opening hands.

in the beginning of the tournament is better to play tight but this can change depending on the table, if everyone plays tight you can loosen up a bit(but this does not happen in freerolls). so the answer to your question is seeing how the table is playing. if someone raises 3x and gets 3-4 callers, then you might be better of shoving. if it folds to the button frequently or the pot fight is usually between the blinds, you shouldn't shove.

This is pretty solid advice, I usually try to single raise if there's no action and I'm in late position or button then see if they will try to steal on the flop. but you could always get beat with a flush or trips. early in any tourney, it is hard to play perfectly since you don't know how anyone else is going to play unless you've sat with them before

It depends, but in most freerolls, in the first hands donkeys going all in with any two cards. So the possibility someone calls your shove is better now than later.

I am a strong believer never to go all in unless you instigate it and you know you have the best hand. If someone else instigate it I usually fold as most of the time they have a good hand. Having said that I do not want to put all my chips at stake by going all in. I believe it is better to either use the pot size as my aggressive bid to separate the players so only one to 3 players call. This way you have a better chance to win the pot as it is much easier to have 1 to 3 players fold to your next aggressive bet which could be half the pot size. There will always be players who keep calling you but will eventually fold. You must stay aggressive but be mindful of the last player calling you. Be careful of a possible flush, straight or set.

I can come up with pros for just limping, raising, and going all in. But I would suggest that you start out raising the standard 3x (or whatever your standard raise is).

Jamming all in might work in the free rolls, but it doesn't teach you anything. I think the goal is to get better. See some flops. Learn when you need to let that AA go post flop. It is also setting a good example to the table that we aren't just going all in every hand.

Also, mix in a few limps and see what happens. You may get 5 limps and then someone goes all in going after all the weak money. Then you go all in and cross your fingers. You may get 5 limps and then you get to play vs 5 people post flop. This is difficult.

You can play these freerolls for fun or for practice. You can NOT play them for profit. So I say mix it up a bit.

$100 freeroll that takes 2.5 hours to get in the money for 75 cents. yes, I will go for the double up in the early stages of a freeroll. Bubbled more than my share of tournaments playing soft.

I prefer 3 bet in the begining of the tourney. All in only if the pot has a good amount of chips.

3 betting with AA/KK is not a good idea in a freeroll,we don't want 5-6 callers,,,,shove it.;)
