I've always been amused by the guy that goes all-in pre-flop. After everyone folds, he shows A-A, and someone says "nice hand". Really? Pocket Aces and all this guy managed to pick up was 1½ blinds. It would have been a nice hand if he managed to get some value out of it.
Don't get me wrong, I love getting my chips in pre-flop with A-A. But open shoving and scaring everyone out of the pot is not the way to do it. Neither is allowing some lagtard to limp in with 6-2 "cause it's soooted" and flop two pair on you. Typically, I'm going to make my standard raise of 3x + 1x for each limper in front of me, so as not to give away the strength of my hand, and hope someone re-raises so I can make a 4-bet. If someone raises in front of me, I'm 3-betting. If they 3-bet, I'll four bet. Yeah the goal is to get all my chips in when I know I'm holding the best hand, but not until I'm sure I'm going to get a call or at least until the pot is big enough for me to be satisfied if I were to take it down right then.
