Hey guys,

A lot of times when i play a SNG i get top pair at the flop (like k,q or a)
After that I lose the pot because they had pocket 5 which made them have a three of a kind. Is there any way that I can dodge those beats?

You can try a early all in with a top pair, then they wouldn't have the chance to see the other hands. But I don't really like to play all in at the flop, because mostly they don't call a large stack and then you can't win a big pot, so I often only raise and hope that they call and that I win the pot at the end.

Preflop, you have to discourage them from entering.
Postflop, you have to punish them with their draws.

you cant "read" if someone hits a set....
on the other hand in board is wet,and you see someone can have str8 or flush you can see that and fold your hand, after all you have only ONE pair, aka weakest hand on poker...

try to shove with big pairs, that way i dont think 55 will call aipf..

it's tough, generally we just have to try and lose as little as possible, because by not betting say AK on a K high board we miss value from a lot of our opponents range such as KQ KJ and smaller pairs, it's extremely difficult to read a set, just remember don't fall in love with top pair, afterall it's only a pair. If you want better responses you'd have to add in more information.
