Not so long ago I reached the final table in the tournament with small prizes. I was a chip leader when there were about 6 people at the table! Naturally, I played aggressively stealing the blind, but then suddenly one player just started to get monster hands! constantly, he played modestly, not aggressively, and then he became to raise and go all-in-first 2 all-in I missed-but on the 3rd I just did not believe that he had a strong hand-opened it and there are QQ, opened the next time - there's an AK, then an AQ! All times he won either a kicker or an older pair, how to play with such lucky ones? Sit and wait for the cards at the final table of time no, because the blinds quickly eat your stack-or is it just a desperate situation? Your thoughts on this?

If you see that you are losing several times from the same opponent, don't follow this opponent. By my experience, program is setting you up always on the same opponent on that table. Change the table or don't go in duel with that opponent.

Just hit a cooler maybe? Doesn't sound like bad play or luck on his part. You get it in good then you got no worries

I know for me in the past in same situation I was guilty of playing to aggressively not letting go of trash hands playing big pots out of position with junk cards,i would hope that years later I would be smarter about being chip leader, but that's not the case sometimes it doesn't matter how strong your hand is there always seems to be a stronger one being dealt in the same hand

he caught a good run thats all, cant do anything about that, it happens. Just wanna avoid players like that for a while, still the pendulum swings your way. Happens most the time in tournaments, might find a player whom seem to cant lose. Just to survive in instances like these

You have to be patient and follow ICM. If they are always getting good cards and you are seeing them at showdown, it just means you need to play tighter vs them.

I see nothing "natural" about being aggressive in the final table. On the contrary, being a chip leader in the final table, you can afford to fold more often and let other players risk their stacks and fall out. Since payouts in FT differ a lot, it makes complete sense to abstain from aggressive stance as it always mean risks, no matter how good are your cards. You can later make up the difference with just a couple of moves and still be the tournament winner.

I was that guy this past weekend. I made final table and payout was around $3,500 for 1st and like $600 for 8th. I made it into the money, it was late and I was tired, and I loosened up ALOT. More like sloppy and lazy playing, I honestly just wanted to bust and go home to bed. I was playing face card with anything suited, Ace with anything, connectors, pairs, and any two face cards. I'd call any reasonable raise to see the flop, check for pairs, and look for my outs. If I saw anything I 2x-3x BB bet all the way to the river. I rivered quite a few pots and busted a few people. Ended up at 4th place and really P'd off this one guy who got 5th. I felt bad, but I couldn't just pass my chips off and go home.

Card luck runs in spurts, I hit my luck run and it just happened.

Not much you can do. That is the risk we take when chip leader and we try to be the bully at the table. If it isn't working change style of play and tighten up a little.
