I'm new here in the forum and I've been playing poker since the beginning of the year, but I started to study and read strategies more than 1 month ago. I play freerolls to go improving my game, because I still do not feel prepared to play real money. I already got some tickets on Hubble's Freeroll and a few cents on other Freerolls. But one thing that bothers me a lot in these tournaments is the donkeys. How to play against them? Which hands to play? How to know when a donkey really has a strong hand?

Best way to play against a donkey is to get them to keep calling when you have the best hand.

Well friend, in my opinion the best way to deal with a donk is to play poker. You stick to your game plan and you should be fine in the long run. you will leave a few tourneys early but in the long run if you don;t give in and play like a bingo playing donk in the long run you should do fine..:D:D

stop bluffing because he is not able to get it and can call u with any crab...
on the other hand if you have it go for it

just play strong hands where you feel confident... give him the blinds if he wants them so badly... win lesser pots but the bigger ones
play in position and control him

+1. Bet hard for value. Don't bluff.

Hi my friend I think the best move is that the asses give lots all in so expect high pair or AK and pay all in and fold your chips. The chance is big good game there.

Play fundamental poker against bad players. Trying higher level moves and bluffs usually does not work. Age old issue here, but remember, you want people to play badly. If they didn't get lucky they wouldn't come back...

Just play your strong cards. Don't try to connect with middle range cards on preflop. Just wait for some monsters or to hit a cheap flop and then so called "donkeys" will give your chips very easy. Sometimes you may lose with AA vs 84 in a preflop all in, but most of the times it will be the best way to build early a nice stack.

Against weak players can not play bluff. Play only on the map. Catch them on the bluff. Against donkeys than playing easier - the better.

Be careful with the donk since they tend to play a huge range of hands you are never going to have a good read on what they have. Just be a bit pickier with what you battle them with and you may need to be prepared to play for all of the chips when you do get into a pot with them.

To how often they go to olyn if the cards with a bad you can and call with ace king and queen, pay attention to how often he puts a bet in order to understand whether it is possible to bluff against him

one way will be to think as a dunkey :D and then play as a smart player.

with the variance involved in every hand, don't bet too much if there is some player that you think is a "donkey", remember they could be acting. :deal:

It would help us to know what you consider a donkey. Is it just a style that irks you. Are you sure it is an inexperienced player? Is it just that the player is too active for you druthers?

In all these cases, especially in tourneys, you have one duty to yourself: survive till you can attack.

So, in my calmest voice, I suggest you learn patience, It is never your responsibility to try to control the 'donkey'. The instant you get the feeling you 'have' to do something, he just owns you.

Welcome to the forum.

First off, Freerolls are not the place to work on one's game unfortunately. The levels of play found there are not what you want to get used to.

Throw a few shackles onto one of the sites you like & start there.

To answer your donkey question, my feeling is to go with your gut & stick to your rules.

Donkeys, often aren't what they might seem. For example I often build a donkish image intentionally, sacrificing some chips to assure callers later in the game when I have the goods.

Read this opponent is very difficult and sometimes nearly impossible. The logic in their actions there, and maps they can absolutely any.
Bluffing against these players is simply meaningless. When you play with them, in my experience requires perseverance and calm. They can eventually be trapped, if someone will not make it before you with a good map. Well when the donkey sits to the right of us, it gives us an advantage. We will see what action made the donkey.
If You noticed at the table, the donkey, play against him in ABC poker (i.e., with only strong pocket cards with a neat drawing is obviously a winning combination) and "donkey" will soon give You his whole stack.

It is simple to wait when replace at other table because there were situations when also AA and АК, KK fly.

What you don't like is when the donk hits the miracle card and stacks you. Just understand the variance and keep playing solidly.

If he is a calling station, and pay bets whit second, or third pair, or pay high bets only whit draws, excludind the odds, u need to be more tigher. You will be happy to play whit him when u have a good hand. U can raise pre flop 4,5x whit him because he will pay. ( the donks dont understands sizes, pre flops, and another sizes on another streets) so u can value bet a litle more higher, like 70% pot. The donks are nice to extract value, and horrible to bluf, try bluff whit they its a bad idea, usually they never fold.

Anyway, the best option is u be tigher, folding bad hands, and observing how he play, whats the sizes he does, and this things, somes bet pot whit value, and somes bet pot bluffing, or otherwise, bet too low, like 10, 20% pot whit value, or bluffing, u need observe him and make notes to be able to extract always more value of him.
Hope help gg on tables
