I have just started to play online poker over the past week. I began with a $100 deposit, and worked up to about $160 before steadily losing it all. So I refilled back to a $100 and pretty much had the same thing happen. So currently i am down $200 and not sure where to go from here.
I currently have about $800 spending money and with only a part time job of 2 days a week due to Uni, i make roughly $200 each week.
So my main question is how much and how often should i be depositing money since i am still a beginner and have alot to learn. Also what tables should i be playing at? I had been playing NLHE on 25/50c tables since i found the lower tables mind numbingly slow to deal with.
Also if you are using abbreviations please explain what they mean, since i've been reading alot of these posts and getting lost in these online poker terms i don't understand yet :) .
Thnx, Lukyl

Deposit around $70-$100 and start grinding at 5nl the hard way if you want to take the game seriously. You will develop your' basic skills while building a bankroll. If you can't beat the donks at lower stakes you don't stand much chance at 50nl...

You should definitely use the search feature here and look up bankroll management. It can save you money in the long run. Depending on what stakes you are playing at, you want to have enough as a cushion to cover the variance.

welcome to the forum and gl
so ur new to online, have you played a lot of live poker?
you dont make a lot of money so i assume cant afford to lose (who can:))
so penny table and micro tournies best bet, even tho lotta donk play, gives ya a feel for online play
I would recommend more than anything to spend more time on this forum reading as much as you can and learn BRM (bankroll management)
crucial if you dont want to redeposit
it will be a slow going process with a lot of frustration, but thats poker;)
what site(s) you on??
come back here often with questions too
hope that helps some

starting off at the lower stakes would be your best bet to improve your game and if u only work two days a week try practicing on the freerolls many sites has to offer good luck

The lower stakes may be slow, but they're easier.
I don't play with real money quite yet (yeah i'm a puss), but I put in enough boring as f*k hours at the lowest limit tables to have enough 'money' to experiment with at higher stakes, as well as try out new things at the low tables (since the competition is dull, you don't get raped as hard for doing something stupid for curiosity's sake).
Freeroll tourneys are good too, unlikely to win anything, but it forced me to be more aggressive.
