I play microstakes ,and generally 2 tables, sometimes 3 ,i usually play for a couple of hours a day ,be it a ring game or maybe an SnG or an MTT ,depends on mood and availabilty, but on a 9 man ring game ill play 150-200 hands a session ,

How much do you play ? How long is a session and whats the optimal time for a grinding session?
Am i playing enough hands in a session ?
Any thought on this subject would be interesting to read ....also the advice off any advanced players would be great for myself and any other learners out there reading this

That is a very player specific thing. Playing three tables I can keep a maximum focus for up to two hours on average. Everything below 100% is a good reason to leave and realizing when that time has come can save you quiet a few BIs. There are others multitabling for much longer without a decrease in focus. It is also a matter of getting more experienced and building an arsenal of automated scripts for various standard situations in your head that don't demand as much attention as unfamiliar decision processes do when you start out.

Online, I'd say about 1.5-2 hours is optimal. Take a short break, and grind again. However, I'll often grind for 5+ hours straight. It just depends, but you do need to take breaks, even if you don't think you need to.

Are you guys saying 2 hour sessions with breaks in between? Or 2 hour daily total? I guess for the most part it is up to the person like you said (if you can maintain focus, etc.). I was just curious what you specifically meant in general (if the daily schedule permits, such as a weekend day).

Really? Just 1.5-2 hours? Personally used to play like 5-6 hours every day *at least*. And with play money, so it doesn't really "count." Granted, I was living at home with the parents and didn't have many friends, but still. 2 seems kind of low for an average

As everyone else said, it is player specific. The more hands you play the better, if your focused on improving your game.

If your game falls off you can work on it to achieve longer session's in focus. It is a lot like working out. Push yourself to play ~15 minutes more each time and you will adjust. The best thing you can do is recognize when your becoming impatient and adjust. Whether that is taking a break or telling yourself to be patient. I used to switch tables. My grind sessions are usually 6-8 hours.

2 hours is a good session length, probably the optimum for me.

I do play longer up to 4 hours sometimes but can find concentration waning towards the end, especially in cash games, mtts are OK because the decisions are easier.

1 hand all the way to 3-5 hours (cash online) or longer for Mtts

Live cash I will play much longer than online, just because you see less hands and its just different.
