This is a discussion on How I crushed a LAG player (it IS possible) within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; The other day I was playing a 6-max cash game $0.10/0.25 which included an obvious LAG player (aka ATC player). LAGs rely primarily on fold-equity
The other day I was playing a 6-max cash game $0.10/0.25 which included an obvious LAG player (aka ATC player). LAGs rely primarily on fold-equity & intimidation rather than value-equity.
I usually ended heads-up with him because the other players were so intimidated by him.
So I tried an experiment: I became a calling-station. Whenever I had AX, KX, QXs I called all his triple-barrels, and basically crushed him. He cursed me in the chat box, but I guess that's how bullies act. Being a helpful person, I encouraged the other players not to succumb to his intimidation.
Then he left the table, pissed off I'm sure.

re: Poker & How I crushed a LAG player (it IS possible)
This is similar to the approach advocated by Ed Millar in his book "Playing The Player."

I'll have to check that book out BiliousBetil, I hadn't heard of it before, but that's also the position I take against Laggies and it is usually successful and throws them completely off of their game. I like to "friend" them and show up at their tables and watch them run away after putting a beating on them a couple of times, or watching how they change up their game when they get into pots with me and watching how others adjust to them as well. Good for you!
