You just try to catch the worst hand possible (excluding straights and flushes) and push all those perty chips into the pot. Sounds like you typical bingo freeroll play... but this time you actually can win with the worst hand ... lol

Actually if you play tight agressive razz you can usually do well against most players in my experience ... don't start pushing hard till you have made your low hand.

RAZZ

Razz is a very fun game, and a lot of bad player play it and get very lucky. All you have to do is get low cards, and hope you win. Its a very simple game, and very easy to learn. I just hate when I start w/ A234 but en up paring or get to many high cards and lose to 56789. It happens, GL TC. :D

Razz is dead simple, impossibly frustrating and really difficult. All at the same time.

If it's just a freeroll you can do a lot worse than just sticking to eight-low or better starting hands and stealing antes from all the sitouts that will invariably be in the game.

Try to only play hands where your starting hand is all under 8. If you see 4 cards showing that you would need to improve your hand - fold.

If everyone's up card is higher than an 8 you could play low card showing, but better have lo in the hole.

Pay attention to the cards showing. I think Jen Harman has some advice online, or check out Supersystem.

It's pretty hard. The odds change on every street. If you're out of position, you stay out of position, because the button doesn't move. There might be more bluffing than any other game. And it gets boring in a tournament, because you play for hours, going after the same hands, just looking at the numbers, without ever really hitting any hands that are that much better than other hands.

its easy to learn, easy to master. A lot of terrible players play the game but that can be a downfall because some wont know when they are "suppose" to fold, and if you pair a couple of low cards and they don't fold and you lose, it can be terrible frustrating.

So try and play at the higher limits because I find it easier playing against good players than bad ones.

I've only played a few times but it seems like you have to have lots of patience while waiting for those low cards. Then you get four low cards and the next to follow are all high ones. It can be pretty crazy.

Here's an example of a low stakes razz hand

3rd street - raise, call, call, fold, call, call, call, call

4th street - check, check, bet, call, call, call, call, call, fold

5th street - bet, call, call, call, call, call

6th street - bet, call, call, call, call, call

7th street - bet, call, call, call, call, call

Winning hand - KK,A234,5 <--- well played sir....well played

My mate - "hey dude you wanna play some razz?"

Me - "Sorry bro I'm busy counting the number of dust particles on this blank piece of paper"

Razz is like the overly loud ***** at a party. They're a novelty for a short period until you want to bash their head in with a blunt object so you can speak to more interesting people.

I've played Razz a little bit before and I really don't see how it can be hard... just find the worst hand possable.

razz is a game mixed from 5 games or i missunderstand ??

Nope - that's HORSE, and Razz is one of the five games you rotate through when you're playing HORSE.

(The other four are limit Hold 'em, Omaha eight or better, Stud and stud Eight or better)

In terms of betting and strategy it's very like Stud. You count your outs and picture what type of hands your opponents are playing, and check their open cards to see what hands they could make. If played properly there's a lot of maths in it and opponent reading. Played at lower limits you get the people that chase even when they have the worst possibly hand and get incredibly lucky - see the above example. But it's nice when you make the wheel A2345.

My advice to newbies only play starting hands with 3 non-duplicate cards 6 and below. Have fun!

It is a fun game but like all games you need both luck and skill. The skll in Razz is different from other games. More like stud than Holdem or Omaha.

Definitely a fun game to play, just like many of the various 'low' games.

Is a quick way to figure out if you got the lowest hand by adding up all 5 your lowest cards.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Omaha and Stud HL you start counting from your worst hand

A2349 is worse than 34578

razz

razz is very easy, best hand is 12345 so best starting hand is 123. Tip is not to get too aggressive until you have a made hand, many times I have woke up with 123 only to bet into it and lose a lot when the hand doesn't complete. Now you get to see other's cards so you can employ semibluffing when high cards start showing on their hands especially when only 1 opponent in the pot, when you have a low card showing you can pick up pots in late position when you complete the bet and take the blinds down, I usually bet based on what I think the other player's hand is based on preflop play and amount of opponents in the pot

Razz is not hard at all, its quite fun really, atleast for me, i like it in Horse. Razz is similar to 7 card stud, except the lowest hand wins The best possible Razz hand is 5-4-3-2-A. In Horse it is the 3rd letter in Horse "R", i like Horse cause of the challenge of changing the type of game every 10 minutes or so, in Horse every letter stands for a different game of poker, "H" hold'em "O" omaha hi/low 8 "R" razz "S" 7 card stud "E" 7 card stud hi/low 8. Playing Horse for me breaks away from the NL hold'em concentration and keeps my sense's open for a new way of thinking about poker. But in general Razz is not that hard and in Horse really fun to. Good luck and try Horse, you won't be disappointed:D

p.s. always keep an eye out for which game your playing, i get caught up once in a while thinking i'm playing one game when it's totally another lol.

if you see cards you already have thats good means your less likely to pair.
also if you do pair your 3 in the hole and the villian gets a high card bet. look for spots to bluff they come up often. the guy to your imediate left brings it w/ a king its folded to you with pocket jacks and 3 showing complete. its very easy to do. another thing to do is write down the dead cards. i might start just taking screen shots and looking at that. you need to keep track if an out is still in the deck or not.
