Hello. I have been focusing on sngs this year. I've regrinded my bankroll and decided to jump onto cash games. I decided to start off soft by playing 5NL Rush. While I've been playing sngs, I've read few cash game analysis threads and studied few books useful for cash games. I learned how to fix my non-showdown winnings.
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-games-11/no-showdown-wins-will-help-keep-161504/

However, as much as I studied the non-showdown winnings and applied it, my showdown winnings is on a rollercoaster. Back then, my showdown winnings was steadily up while my non-showdown winnings was steadily down. Now it's quite the opposite. When I try to fix one, other side seems to go down.

Can anybody tell me the cause of low showdown winnings and how to increase it while maintaining the non-showdown winnings?

Rush 5NL Showdown
Rush 5NL EV

I know 10k hands isn't enough to determine my winrate or play but I somehow just tell myself "showdown winnings will come along the way as long as green line is going up"

I'm assuming my showdown winnings are low because it's either
1. i bluff like an aggro-spewtard fish and get called way too often
2. i'm a calling station
3. i'm unlucky as hell getting sucked out.

I appreciate it if anyone can provide the causes of showdown winnings and how to increase it while maintaining non-showdown winnings. Thank you.

Look at your WTSD and W$SD by position, cbet, and turn cbet. 1 and 2 are potential causes. Note though that players with pretty green and red lines don't necessarily have pretty blue lines.

Hi slycbnew. Ty for instant good advices and posts. I have a question. What does WTSD and W$SD mean?

My WTSD is 28.0%
My W$SD is 51.3%

Oops. I forgot to add. Here's the position.

WTSD = Went To Showdown. 28% isn't all that high, just a touch.

W$SD = Won Money at Showdown. 51% isn't all that low, just a touch.

WTSD and W$SD interact with each other - if you're going to sd a ton, your W$SD is going to be lower ldo, if you go to sd rarely it'll be higher.

You're pretty agg relative to the amount of hands you play. These values look pretty reasonable to me (I'm much less laggy, there are other players who may jump in with a better informed opinion). But I wouldn't expect a pretty blue line with those stats, you're semibluffing/bluffing a ton, you're going to miss frequently, and your image (if anyone's paying attention at 5nl rush) is going to cause some light calldowns.

Hi slycbnew. My showdown winnings got better. Controlled my aggression and folded more in awkward spots. This month has been great. I hope I can continue this nxt month. My WTSD is lower. I'm guessing it's about selectivity. Cash games are quite fun although it can be very stressful compared to sngs. I hope to do well in August, possibly move up and tackle 10NL soon.

I use Holdem Manager. Pokertracker 3 does the same job also. You can try out Holdem Manager for 10 days or so since they have trial version. All I can tell you is, buy it. It's worth every single penny. I'm not a salesman for HEM or any of these software programs but they really do pay off over the long run. Software pays for itself. It allows you to realize where your leaks can be coming from.

vn! I'm sure you'll be beating 10nl in no time!

Suggestion - you were running really well from hand 10kish to 19kish - the last several thousand hands look like you took a few pretty bad beats or something - filter for the 10k to 19k and check stats, situations - then filter for the last several thousand and check stats, situations.

When I see my graph do that, fwiw, it usually means I tilted off a few buyins in addition to taking a few bad beats, and my game changed. I tend to get ultra tight, ultra agg when I'm on tilt - I'm normally a nit, so you can just imagine how much I spew in implied odds :) .

Implied odds are scary in cash games. That's one thing I've learned in cash games. I folded overpairs in awkward spots and a set on the river, such as the one below. It gets frustrating when my overpair or top pair strong kicker runs into a sneaky set. Dunno if I should be chalking it up to a cooler or bad play. Although it's situational, it's disgusting.

I'm reviewing some of my past hands from July. This hand seems to bother me. I can't get this hand out of my head. It's bothering me.

I got lot of trouble with Poker. I officially suck at cash games and cannot control tilt from downswings. Variance in cash feels very harsh. Sad and pathetic that I can't even grind 5NL. FML. I think imma quit cash games. I can't handle the variance in cash games. Nearly all my profit down the drain. My punk ass is only profiting $60 bcz of rakeback. Nothing else. I'm better off going back to sngs and play hundreds of them. Studied cash games for about 4 months before tackling cash games again but still doesn't make a difference. I try to fix one portion of my game, other side falls instantly. I broke my secondary laser mouse(thank god it wasn't my primary rechargeable mouse).

August 5NL

Bottomline of my cash game: Break-even, possibly losing player.

Might retire to sngs. But I'm wondering if WTSD and W$SD are any useful at sngs.

I really wouldn't focus on non-showdown winnings until maybe 25nl. For the most part at 5nl your seeing a showdown. Also add in flopcbet success vs1(and vs2 if you want). This might give you an idea if your cbetting too much or not.

Old thread, but I'm curious to see if you've made any good adjustments in cash games. I'm in exactly the same spot. Good non-showdown in micros but big time negative showdow winnings. Had an awesome run with both positive. But now I can't seem to win anything at showdown.
