JJ

depends on your stack, position and the progress of the tournament, usually you always have to do a RAISE to decrease the number of players that enter the hand, if someone does an REREISE you have to be very careful

JJ is a strong hand enough to do raise in any position. Sometimes I can do a 3bet to squeeze others out of the hand.

As write mackmasterss depend of ..

It is a good combination on preflop, at minimum raise for decrease a players before they see card on flop.
If your position is low (in tournament) go all is the better way i thought

In the early position, I go all-in. JJ is not a very strong hand to play slowly. In the late position it all depends on what the adversaries did to you.

For a good game with jacks you need to understand how your opponents play.
My opinion about the game pre-flop with JJ:
- in the early position - make a call at an aggressive table and raise in a tight table;
- in the middle and late position - raise;
- if there is a reraise - fold.

It all depends on the position and the specific situation, but my opinion is that too often overestimate the strength of this hand.

I usually prefer to watch others bet and bet according to the information these bets gave me, keeping in mind bluffs and etc. And, knowing the table better, I act accordingly what i already observed. Not a simple answer haha Sorry

Hard question to answer cause of all the variables. As a general guideline

- JJ is strong enough to raise pre flop if no one has raised before you from any position
-if you are facing a raise pre flop holding JJ it helps to have a read on the situation/your opponent. If your opponent raises often than re raise with the JJ, if your opponent almost never raises then a call or rarely even a fold might be best.
If you have a short stack (15 to 25 big blinds approx.) Its often good to get it all in pre flop.

I fold...

If I don't I am going to get lucked out by clown with 8 5 off anyway...

Unfortunately the only thing I can do in poker is minimize my losses
as I lose any hand in which my odds are not 100%....

So I will always fold any hand from now on....

Except 8 5 off of course... That is a clear all-in!

From Early Position:

  1. Action is folded to me: I always open raise.
  2. Someone has raised before: call -- re-raise would make the pot unnecessarily big and tricky to play.
From LP:

  1. Action has been limped: raise big - I raise to 5bb or so to take the pot right now and avoid playing multiway. But if the table is too loose that I know everyone will call, then it is a hard spot I will find myself in. It is the threeshold between limp behind and push.
  2. Action has been raised and folded: call.
  3. Action has been raised and got several callers: another tough spot. Maybe re-raise, maybe call behind. The problem in re-raise JJ is that if someone 4bet I woud be prompted to fold, and if I just call then it would be a multiway pot in which my Js will perform poorly in terms of clarity about where I stand in. But I would probably call behind and slow play if I miss.
From the blinds I will always 3bet and may push if there was a lot of action from late players before action hits me. The point is late players will open wide and think how terrible would be fold Js in a flop As3sQh agaist an aggressive button holding 5s or 8h7c?

In sum Js are a medium strength hand slightly better than Ts, a way worse than Qs. So in doubt just think -- what would I do if it was TT instead?

How dou you play JJ pre flop??

I would raise it to 5x the blinds and then evaluate if your opponents are trying to steal an A or K at the flop.

The hard part is detecting if your opponent has a set within the lower ranked cards.

To open a raise preflop and further develop the initiative on the flop, even if there is an overcard. The objective of such strategies is to get the bank to turn.
A situation where you need to throw off the jacks before the flop: in front of you was a raise and re-raise. Jacks are not the card, which should get involved in such a serious "fight." In addition, such actions are opponents suggest that they have more serious card.

Raise only from late position, and be careful with higher card down on the board.

Usually all-in. But if the mood is good, then I can play cunningly.

usually i open pre flop raise, or reraise, to get a big pot, and remove hands, and then make a raise or a call, depending on the number of players and cards on the table :bike:

It depends on the position I am in at that moment ... if I'm in UTG ... or early positions I make a 3-bet raise ... and if I'm in the cut-of or on the button and some villain he has made a 3-bet before me ... I make a raise of 4-bet ...!

If you have a short stack (15 to 25 big blinds approx.) Its often good to get it all in pre flop.

Tbh that would only make sense against someone who literally only plays AA. Even against tight players, against any decent player's range folding jacks to a single raise would be a very bad idea (not regarding sattelites etc.).

In general I would say, open up with a raise if noone did it before you. If someone did raise before you JJ is good enough to reraise regardless of your position (this doesn't mean that you HAVE to reraise it, since your range of hands should be balanced).
