Lately I find myself playing pocket jacks like a small pair in cash games. Try to see a cheap flop, and end up with the overpair or even better yet, a set. I'm definitely losing less money with jacks this way, but not sure if I'm making enough with them either.

How do you play pocket jacks to minimize damage and maximize profits?

I play them similar to the way you play them. I used to go all in with pocket J's (sometimes), but now I usually just call blinds or small raises and hope for a small flop. The flop really dictates whether I play tight or aggressive with J's.

Surely, JJ is the hardest hand for me.

Lets say we enter the pot and 2 or 1 overcard hits the flop, we arent sure where we stand.

I lost most of JJ. With it, Im now very cautious to play them.

I feel your pain with the Jacks. At times I find myself in a quandary, not knowing how I want to play them, given certain situations... I'll just add what I have heard many times at the tables. "There are 3 ways to play Jacks, and they are all wrong."

You must get rid of players with weak aces, kings and queens before flop. Therefore if you aren't a post-flop play monster, it's usually recommended to bet 3-5BB in the beginning.

I would raise between 3-5 BB Preflop, and if the flop Shows Q, K or A, and someone bets, I'd fold.
I dont know if this is too tight or not, but Jacks get me into trouble more often then not, and this is how I've been playing them.

If I get 3bet preflop, I fold as well, to me if you're gonna 3bet you have QQ or better... Once again, maybe too tight but with JJ I prefer to play it safe.

Powerful pre-flop hand. After the flop, just beware of the top senior cards(QKA). Do not attach much importance jacks. If the stack is not very big, it is possible and all in preflop.

2 1/2 or 3 times blind pre flop raise and hope an A or K doesn't flop. I'm usually not to concerned if a Q comes.

Not strong enough to bet an overpair especially if you've seen action preflop. I might stay in there for a small pot but if there is betting it is a lousy hand postflop unless you hit the set.

I play JJ same as small pairs.Raise 2.25 BBs, cbet flop, fold to flop resistance. If called on the flop go into pot control mode, check /calling to showdown, but fold to any large turn or river bets.

^^^ pretty much. I treat JJ like pocket 10s big cousin. I may see a street or two, but if a nitty player is firing two big barrels with overcards (or possibly a overpair) I'm folding it as if I was holding 22.

JJ is one step below QQ.

Good card to shove with. I usually try to isolate as many players as I can, and try to go heads up or a three way, hoping for the best. Try not to be commited to it more than you can afford. Also, if two or three players shove before you. I fold.

Just call. Too many online players will play over cards and small pocket pairs that will hit.
