I've been playing poker for about a year now on a regular basis. At least 4 hours a day, I've become pretty educated on the subject I think.

My question is how do you play against a bunch of passive players who just play the board and their hand? Im so BORED!!!! I can't make a move on anyone because they have no fold button. I'd try value betting but these guys only call big if they catch big.

And unless you're gonna chip away at these players blind by blind, there is no way to stack them unless they have a huge hand. They won't play poker.

I don't know how to adjust anymore... How do I play passive players without getting killed by rake? Its like wtfrench man..

Use there passiveness against them, try to build big pots pre flop and cbet and insta profit, a lot of nits will just fold if they don't hit.

Well, just get their chips slowly.

Most of the time, you win pots because of them being so passive.

Its like boxing, if you cant knockout them, then you can win via jabbing.

I think we have to play aggressively against them. Just so at least most of the stolen the blinds will be yours.

I think Taban is right. If you play them aggressively like raising everytime one of the has limped in then raise em up. This will soon frustrate them and force them into either blinding out or calling your raises with less than good hands, then raise them again. It wont take long for them to get fed up with you, but you need to make sure you don't bluff em too often otherwise they will catch you out..........................gl :D:D:D

I'm working on a combined style of poker. Itself or Passive Aggressive game result will not. Igraesh long at the table and you easily read opponents. Combining the style of play you are not so easy to read :) In your case agressive game will be correct

How to play a passive player ....I say play many of hands and wait for them to play there (Big Hand) in hopes to catch something good with a hand like 58. imo. Kinda surprise them. They tend to think that if they wait long enough to play there gonna get respect..as if that ever happens.

Keep in mind that these guys may have a solid read on you. Players that are overly loose and aggressive can be an easy mark. Opponents wait for premium hands, and simply call as you feed them chips.

With anywhere from 5 to 9 other players at the table, it won't be uncommon for someone to have a hand to play against the overly loose/aggressive player. It may feel like they're all calling stations every hand, but they're probably taking turns.

Your opponents may know what you're up to.

I like to always put pressure on them, if you meet resistance then proceed with caution.

Passive player raises only with really strong hands . Hence, the main advantages of this style of play: firstly, more chances to win , and secondly , it is easier to make decisions on the flop. Passive player less risk.

However, the passive style has its drawbacks . These players are easier to predict. If your opponents see that you raise only with strong hands, they will simply stop responding to you . And you will be satisfied with a small bank. Therefore, passive players sometimes need to behave aggressively.

My game plan for passive players is relentless value betting. I don't bluff, and I Cbet less than normal as the risk reward is less with passive players, imho. When I have TPTK, I'm betting two-thirds pot most of the time. Since they're calling only when they have a piece of the pot, I want to make sure I'm getting my money in as soon as I am TP or better. Yeah, I get sucked out on with larger pots occasionally, but Im ahead with all the folds I see post-flop and on the turn.

Loose-passive - a wide range of playing cards, even passively. This type of player is too often looks flop and passed, or hold, hoping to hit the drawing page. Many weak hand to play and often find themselves in a difficult position.

Tight-passive - picky with regard to the initial pages and play them passively. This type of player to win the pot is difficult because most opponents simply throws a tight-passive player voluntarily enter the pot with a raise.

The passive players you are describing are calling stations if they won't fold. In this case, you need to wait until you have a hand and then bet into them enough so they don't fold, and eat their chips.

be aggressive....aggression is a sure way to make players feel like they are fed up with you and will result in wilder, sub-optimal, play at a passive table

SIMPLE.. by doing the opposite when you got it. loose passive opponents is the best to come up on, since they call raises most.

IsaPalacios,

What game/stakes are you playing? And what kind of passive players are you playing against?

Assuming that you are playing against loose stations who don't value bet thinly, you should use hand-reading to attack them with selective aggression when they are weak, and you should value bet relentlessly and thinly when appropriate in other spots.

Just keep raising until they catch on the the fact that your bullying them.. what I'm saying is force them to adjust to your game by advantageously adjusting to theirs.

If someone's too passive then I'll try and take advantage of that. Raise, be more active/aggresive. But careful, don't overdo it :)

Easy strategy, dont bluff!! When you have something BET, BET, BET. If you check, the passive players sometimes want take the pot by small bet. Read his size betting because that situations tells you (i have weak hand). Remember, If you have semistrong hand and passive player raised you... Dont be a hero, just fold it, that kind of players dont bluff ;)
