For freerollers having 2000-2500, no strategy can work. Win some initial hands(obv for this needs luck has to be on your side) then let settle the game. In the middle play only good hands and have patience. I had played many freerolls but I always end my race in 30s and 40s, not good.
cheers

Mostly in freerols I wait for enough good hand and simply go all-in. You can lose nothing, it's just a freeroll. If I win I start to think about my moves, but in start it's just luck.

Play tight early on, only playing premium hands in position when the antes kick in start to open up your range all the time focus on your table to see whos the calling stations and who folds to aggression, also players who are using their time clock up every hand close to the bubble are easy targets to chip up, id also pre ante2.75x- 3x bb bet oop, 2.25x-2.5x ip when the antes kick in 2.5x-2.75x bb bet oop and 2x-2.25x ip, hope this helps glgl.

Freerolls are an opportunity at free money.Take advantage of the ones who think it is just a freeroll I can't lose anything or the ones who have no clue what game they are playing....eg badugi, lowball, Omaha...etc. If you do then you will look up one day and have a bankroll. ........scorp

Wait for a big hand and go all in otherwise fold. If you make it to level 8 then steal blinds and antes with pot size bets. Bring a four leaf clover and a horseshoe.

most important thing that you need to know about your opponents at public freerolls is that the most of them can be put in two general categories,

1. those who dont have a clue about poker
2. those who dont give a crap about the tourney they play

You probably guessing that if you wanna do good at large field FR you shouldnt belong into any of those two categories...

there is a more ways to play them, one is to play really really tight range of hands and to play them really aggressive, don't hesitate to over bet every time you bet, most people wont find it strange, even if they do no problem because you'll only play strong cards, don't even try to bluff unless you know that the player you try to bluff knows where is the fold button... as the blinds go up and when the bubble is approaching you should start stealing the blinds but dont get to crazy with it do it from position and when you realize that players are tightening up... during the bubble time you should play more aggressive because that will give you the chips needed to play after the bubble. At that time you need to remember one general rule, better once in a top 3 than 10 times at min ITM...

GL at the table, hope i helped

If there´s a lot of donks playing same table as me, as normally happens at freerolls i wait for a really nice hand and basically make huge bets or even go all win with them. It really works and can give you a lot of chips earlier in the tournament. If there isn´t donkeys, well, you basically have to play the freeroll same way you would play a buy in tournament, very solid. If you just want to gamble going all in it´s the best way to do it.

I think that depends on what type of free tournament, we are talking about. if a tournament where they give you free tickets as a scoop for example it very safe play.

but if we are talking about free tournaments where few can earn something, that kind of tournament play them like crazy all in with any AX AND Any pair

I say mix up your play. I am sure you would be in more than one freeroll.

Play tight for a hand or two, maybe 10000 hands straight. Then loosen up and just see what works for you.

I would definitely change your gameplay and often. Playing tight is rewarding.

Sometimes the board is throwing low end of the deck. Play a suited connector once in awhile see what happens.

They say if you are not going to play your eights, may as well not play at all. :)

Playem' like a russian, any two, any time. They seem to kikk the butt doing the donkey dance. Myself, playing good only gets me tired and tilted. Carbon is a huge fish bowl, but they took away the free rolls, and the site caters to the fish anyway. It's funny i used to win a free roll on full-tilt back in the day, with 7500 players every turny, couldn't win a single one on merge though, with only 3500- 4500 players. Free rolls today are basically a lottery, if your not lucky, your just not going to disney land.

For a fast paced freeroll, I play fast... (PPs, AXs, All Broadways, etc)
For a slow paced freeroll, I play slow... (All above + speculatives/suited connectors/gappers, etc + Using position) because there's more time to set traps for other players...

But then also it depends on the other players as well...

For me to money, I try to wait for a premium hand to double me up unless I am under 1000 chips. If I am under 1000 chips, then I do an all in on my next both face cards hand.

i do it like this...

play premiums only in the 1st few hrs, UNLESS you can limp/cheaply see flop with only 1-2 ppl- then get lucky
set mining okay IF its cheap- fold if miss flop
dont chase straights or flushes (unless really cheap)
i even fold aj/kq even ak if too many ppl allin before you (or left to act after)
freerolls are long frustrating games...just be PATIENT
glglgl

I definitely think the freeroll strategy is fold until you get AK TT or better and then going all in. Do that 2-3 times, and then switch to super tight and try to get lucky by picking off people with premium hands.

going allin with premium hands will still get you taken out- you will not win that way
trick is seeing flops for cheap to know if you actually got a hand- then bet hard
dont be afraid to fold a monster

in fact i could play a game (gonna try it too-just to prove it)
and only play only shit hands 2-7,6-8(my fav) and any two rags only
bet I could still last longer than you shoving only premiums
lasting is about knowing when to fold and seeing cheap flops-
ak is nothing vs 3+other ppl

and one more thing to add- you say switch to super tight (after being uber tight already)- what the hell is more tight?

Depends on if it's a 3000 player donkument that i entered just because it was free, then I do not want to sit there for 4 hours just to win a few bucks, so in them I just start shoving almost every hand from the start :D I always loose those :pcguru:
In other freerolls like the good kind here I play them the same as I play any real money game. Perfectly
