Alright, so I feel like i've gotten a lot better, but still have a lot to improve on. Officially, i am just starting to make good profit. So aside from one time, ive never final tabled an MTT.
But I revamped my style completely since then, playing a lot more hands, and playing the players even more. And I ended up final tabling 2 tourneys yesterday and 1 today of 5 total MTT registered. I placed 3rd in all 3 accumulating to a $350 profit.
Is there a way to know if poker just started to 'click' for me, or am I just on a lucky streak?
Thanks for all that reply. please let me know how it went when you started doing well, and if it was just wishful thinking.

It's very hard to know, you need to look over a large sample to really get a good idea! That's one of the annoying things about poker, you can start winning think you've got it then start losing and begin doubting yourself! I think it's a good idea to go back over some of the important hands, win or lose, and analyse your play. That should start to give you an idea.

Congrats on the good results, it sounds like you must be doing something right and prob getting a bit of luck as well! The best of both worlds!

I hope this helps.

For me instinctively I feel when I lose certain pots or make certain moves that are debatable in my own mind, I know I may well have leaks in those area's

anywhere I can question my own decision without 100% certainty its always a good Idea to touch up on what's deemed the most successful move in any one spot.

Secondly you should always be observing players, watching their pre flop moves and assess from their post flop play what they are likely to have had.

For example : If they raise from early position pre flop and it comes A-K-9 but they fold post flop to a bet

This information should be memorised (noted)
So next time they raise pre and they call a high board, you can assess the probability that if they aren't a maniac they may be relatively strong.

And I mean really, the more you observe traits and the more often you find yourself assessing post flop action accurately and eventually it becomes second nature
That's a sure sign your becoming a better player.

Another is your ability to create an Image in order to be able to tell a story post flop this is another art where good players will take into account your image into any post flop aggression you take.

the more you practice this the more you will feel yourself becoming a better player and you feel more comfortable in big situations due to repetition and experience.

Money is irrelevant like you kinda know when your getting lucky and when your winning a decent amount of big flips.
eliminate those kinda profits or losses since they are non skill related
and more about your post flop action,
folding correctly getting value correctly and attacking correctly

I first looked at the number of hands played at the limit of no beginning to conclusions if my earnings have been profitable or that and had a run of luck, looking at many important movements in various hands, and most importantly for the bankroll management is the main indication up or down limit.

Being consistent on being ahead on the hands your end. Even if they don't hold up, it is a win to get in ahead.

think its pretty easy, just sharkscope yourself and then see if the sample size is reasonable- if you have played 10mtts then your results are prob not significant but if you have like 500 games you can probably assume some significance and if you have 10k games you know your numbers are pretty accurate

If you save your HH, do a game review. If you are not sure about your play, post the HH. If you do not save your HH, start doing it. Have someone look at your HH and give you their 2 cents. There is a lot of software that will let you review games. I cant remember the free stuff anymore, but there use to be a few good programs where you could review your games.

Of course if you use HEM or PT, you can do it there.
