The fish is one who has significant predicability in their playstyle.

You will find both tight fish and loose fish, the shark is one who just as easily can betting a big size to get you off the hand as they could to be making you pay them off by calling.

Understand that the shark acts to make you act, the fish acts simply to impulse.

It's usually easy to spot the sucker, you watch the game play for a while, make notes on their hand ranges and betting habits, once you have them profiled usually as a LAG or passive call station (ATMs), isolate, trap them and bet for value, then take the poor devil to the cleaners.

Sometimes 5 hands if enough to understand that you play with fish. Sometimes much more. Holdem manager helps with it sometimes)

I'm a very strong LAG player and plan to take this playstyle as I rise the ranks. LAG doesn't imply fish at all. I like to make my opponents never quite know what a raise means with me or know my exact range I (of course) am tighter early and looser late but by HOW MUCH? No one can tell except me. ;)

fish is a player who stole your BB, or trying to do this.
fish is a player who beat you, ..... stop, its a donk who cant play just more lucky.
fish is a player who hits one of his 2 outs on river.
fish is a player who very often go all in, no matter what he/she had AA or 72.

in general FISH is everyone who is not PRO. (who is not Phil Hellmuth)

:D Enjoy!

a shark player could easy be a fish also but vice-versa doesn't work ... you have to play a good range of hands to stay covered and to know when to stop... otherwise when you will raise with AA after 10 times you did it before with suited connectors you will trap somebody ... this is the perfect style.

Yeah I think I understand what you're saying I feel like the best option is to change your play style more often. e.g you're playing very tight and then you switch up to being very loose aggressive and vice versa and i think it's really important to know when to change gear :D

That sounds so much to do but I will try this but sometimes I notice some players who have many play style.. Like they're gonna be TAG in the first 30 minutes and gonna be LAG after, vice versa.

are you saying I should observe their play style first because most of the good players they change gears often and is it that fish don't change their play style and that is how you gonna exploit or whatever you call them. :D

The main signs of a fish:
- frequent limp;
- plays too many hands;
- a game without a position.

If I play $5/$10 live, I am certain there is a fish at the table.

Unfortunately, it's me.

the big fish is really easy to see, they have a high VPIP what means that they are playing all sorts of hands. the other nice characteristic of a beginner is that they don't like to raise anytime. they are the famous calling station.

this is only one kind of fish they can appear in all sorts of playing style but that you that
I just describe is the classic one

Sometimes it's the guy who just limps into the hand until a shark raises all in or high enough for the fish to fold.

Usually if you cant spot the fish, everyone at the table is around your skill level or better than you. Spotting a true fish won't be hard.. they will give you all the information you need. When u do find them, be nice!
