So I'm in a mtt free roll, in late position with a j 2 in the hole, it's very early in the game and I fold the hand, flop come with 2 j and a ace can't remember turn and river is another ace, would have had the full house and won that hand!

How do you manage that mentally? Try to forget about it, chalk it up to bad luck?

Not sure how J2 on a AAJ2 board is a full house.... but whatever....

And I handle it by knowing that I make decisions that have a positive long term expected value...

72o will beat AA 11% of the time... but that means 89% of the time I will lose, so I fold the hand. It doesn't matter that the board came 772XX. Longterm, I profit from folding this hand (generally speaking, but lets not get into that).

Poker is a marathon, not a sprint. All our decisions should be based on there longterm expected value.

doesn't matter what you hit on the board. You folded a hand with little chance to win. Good fold. You're still behind any A that has a higher boat.

Was there and all-in raise ahead of you? JJ is not a bad hand.

I handle it by knowing that I made the best decision with the information that I had at the time. Poker is more about making the right decisions consistently then it is winning the most pots. (can't remember who I stole that from) If I worried that I was going to miss some miracle flop every hand, I'd never fold and never win.

Your goal should be getting money in the pot when you have the best of it. Sure you will sometimes see a flop of 772 and you folded 72, but more often than not, chasing with crap cards will get you consistent losses. Better to pick your hands (and spots) and work on being a consistently good player. Yes, you will occasionally see pros playing crap...but at that level it is a whole different game. Stick with the better equity hands. A hand that wins post flop only 5% of the time is not going to get you anywhere.

You forget about it.
That's one hand. If you play poker to win a single hand you should pick a different game.
Winning poker is about making good choices long term.
If you play J2 100 times it may win 5 to 15 times.
In the long run you lose.
Forget the hands that would have won if you played them.

you just can't be results oriented. Poker is a numbers game, and therefor anything is possible. However, things are not equally possible. Just because something happened once doesn't mean you should change your play in case it happens again. If you did you'd start playing J2, which in the long run, is definitely a losing play.

J2 isn't a profitable hand.... If u made a full house, this happnes 10% only. Your chance too lose is very big, so the fold is the correct play....

There is plenty to think about when playing poker and what came after you folded j2 is not on the list.

I bet I see 50 hands a day that I fold like that. You can't guess the hands you will catch playing poker. You done right by folding.
