Newcomers to the poker game often assume that "tells" (gestures or patterns that offer information about the hand) are a fundamental part of the game, even the most important part of the game. There is the assumption that experienced players can look into a rival's eyes and instantly say whether their hand is strong or weak, whether they are bluffing or betting on value.

Actually, this is not usually the case. Most players, especially those who have played live a couple of times, are to some extent accustomed to hiding most of the physical "tells" that can unveil their game. After all, it is common sense to stop putting a smile every time you wear a full! Usually it is more important to pay attention to the betting patterns, the image on the table or the risky or conservative game of the rival, instead of trying to read his soul looking at his face. That said, there are still some gestures that can be trusted, gestures that even the most experienced players keep on going, both live and (surprisingly) online. Keep your eyes open to find them and you may get that crucial extra of information.

Don't leave us hanging! What are the gestures that can be trusted? What should we be looking for?
