re: Poker & How to deal with losing streaks in MTTs?
I'm actually going through a non-winning streak right now. I was going to say "in the middle of", but I'm hoping I'm more towards the end of it. It might sound odd, but I'm able to handle it because I'm used regular cashes, frequent final tables, and winning at least once every couple of weeks. Even though my little dry spell has been going on for close to three weeks now and is getting somewhat old, I am able to deal with it because of the results that I've been having. Again, this might seem odd, because I have been making constant deep runs and finishing within two or three places of the money. This would probably drive a lot of players crazy. I on the other hand remain encouraged, because when I go out it's on my terms. I feel like I could have cashed in quite a few tourneys during this time period, if I chose to. Not that given the choice of whether to cash or not cash in a tourney, I would choose not to. However, when deep in a tourney and faced with the decision of whether to stall, and try to fold my way into a min cash, or try to get my chips in good and go for the win, I have consitently forgone the former in favor of the latter. Even though it hasn't seemed to work out lately, I am content in the fact that I have been playing my game, and playing it well, to the point where I don't feel that it's a matter of getting a little lucky here or there, but rather not getting unlucky in a crucial hand. You just have to remain confident in your own abilities and in the fact that, if you are a good player, then a lack of success should be the exception, not the norm. But you also have to remain realistic and know that you can't win them all.
