So attempting to call all in or almost all in just with a pair, then sometimes they got lucky to outdraw us or with a bigger pair.

It's never as simple as just doing one thing and not doing another. It's different heads up or with a number of other players at the table. It's different depending on stack sizes and how close you are to the money. It's different in cash games. If you don't answer the aggression, you slowly bleed out through the blinds. If you're too loose, you will be caught by the same player or others at the table. It just comes down to patience and some luck.

Whenever we try to catch a bluff, the opponent will have value some percentage of the time. That is just part of the game, and even loose and aggressive players do sometimes make hands. This does not mean, we did anything wrong, as long as our play was long term profitable. There are also times, where we need to fold even against a loose and aggressive opponent. Yes maybe he bluffed us, but that is also part of the game.

3 bet with the strongest hands, make them pay for the maximum of your good hands, after he sees a couple of times that you show only strong hands and starts to give up, expand your range and add bluffs.:)

Yes, this! I play 6max turbo, so the blinds come around quick and the stronger hands don't always come. It also means folding some marginal holdings waiting for a better spot. It sucks when you look down at A9s and have to fold to a raise because several player are still left to act.

What's nice is that you can usually double up on a player like this, unless he gets lucky.
