How can we win against an aggressive player. And how can we win against a passive player?

What style of play should we use on both of these type of player.

You need to force the oponnent's natural tendencies to work against him.

If a player is aggro, then you want to take lines that will induce him to fire. This could mean cbetting, then checking the next street if he floats a lot, just making a small bet that he might interpret as weakness, which can lead him into raising. You're going to want to try and induce bluffs from this guy.

If he's passive, play hands that can make big pairs. When you hit it, fire three streets at him, and when you miss, try and check down ace-high hands, since you still have showdown value. This is a player you shouldn't ever be bluffing. When he calls you down with pocket 3's on a KT795 board you just forced him to be an amazingly good player. Turn his calls into terrible plays by making a big pair and then having him make those calls.

Keep thinking about other scenarios that could arise and how you'd deal with them, this is the right way to think about poker.

Depends on if they are lose, or if they are tight.
Tight/passive players should be bluffed a lot, and folded to once they raise.
Lose/passive players are easy to play. Just wait for a hand, and take them to valuetown. And just check it down if you havent hit.
Against lose/agressive players you need to be patient, and wait until you have a nice hand.
Tight/agressive players are often the most difficult to get value against. Just try to figure out their play, and stay one step ahead of them.
There really are a bunch of different player types, and giving one universal advice would be like telling u to always chose rock in rock, paper, scissors, but if you play vs beginners you should usally try to play a simple, straight forward game.

Its pretty much easy you do the oposite of what they are doing? If they are aggresive you tighten up wait for premium hands and let them kill them selfs. If they are passive you bet bet bet and watch them fold as you take in pot after pot. Pretty much simple. Gl at the tables man.

Sometimes its that easy, but not always. In fact vs good players you often need to play them the same way they play you.

i think that if you can change your style of play to match your opponent, your doing great, although this is easier said than done.
it takes time to get to know a player and interpret his moves.
i believe that as long as you can mix things up to keep people guessing, you stand a good chance of winning.
i believe it takes the most skill in HU. in Hu you will need to rely more one pure skill than any other aspect of the game.

As most people know, I am only beginning my 10th week of ever playing poker, so I'm still developing my own 'style'. I play according to feelings that I get in my gut about another player, depending on my chip stack & the read I get for the cards as they come up. I try never to assume that I know someone else because human nature can surprise you & bite you in the a**!:D I was asked by Graf in my very 1st CC Freeroll how long I would continue 'limping' & I replied that he would never know...that's because I don't know! I also have learned not to trust entirely that AA will automatically win a hand! It is just a pair & CAN be beaten! I'm getting a little wary at the sight of 99 against my AA though...both times I've lost to that particular pair! LOL! But Pifan had better not under-estimate me next time...I will still go all-in against him pre-flop with an AA...but next time he won't be so lucky to have another 9 sweep up in the river!:D

I found the best thing to do is to find out their habits. Most players well fall into certain habits. For instants, I just played a SnG on FTP and ended heads up with a tight/aggressive player. I had been playing pretty tight till the finally three and started being a bit more loose/aggressive. He always went all in with pocket pairs QQ-AA and raised 3x with Ax, raised 2x with Kx/Qx. Never would call unless I called. What I did was play to his style and constantly raised. He folded almost every hand so I was able bring his stack down to almost nothing and forced him all-in with a small stack. My A10 held up against his KJ and ended up taking the tournament.

Another player did the almost the same thing but was a bit more aggressive. This person always min. bet when he missed the flop. If you raised the bet, he folded.

I think it's a matter of adapting. The hard part is figuring out a person who changes a lot, which is something I'm working towards in my play.
