just do what your doing its obviously working, poker is a longrun game for building profits. Varience will happen, trust me and knock you back sometimes so you have to ride it out and build the br overtime. As you build and are rolled for higher limits then as you learn to beat them profits should come more quickly over time.

Why be dissappointed about 20 - 110 in 2 months, you have 5.5x your br in two months which good or bad (good regardless) comes down to the volume you put in, stakes you play etc. Stick with good brm and build at your own pace.

Good advice as always Dave.

Yep as Dave said, you are doing something right. Getting your BR to $110 after 2 months is good, just keep doing what you are doing and you will get there.

GL @ the tables :)

I think that's actually really good.

now me on the otherhand, I really need to tune up my game and stuff and with freerolls have been unsucessful at building my bankroll only winning a freeroll at a time then losing the next few tournaments, then maybe win another freeroll etc.

I might just try a deposit because it sucked when my br got wiped out

Five Hundred percent with no other deposit is pretty decent. Why not deposit a couple of hundred and play at a higher level. The more $ you bet the faster you can build.

Your question is not unusual for a relative newb, but it's also rather naive. For one thing it assumes there's a reasonable probability that after winning $90 in two months, you can suddenly win $900 in one. While this is not impossible, there is no answer (e.g. play a particular MTT, certain SNGs, cash) that will give you a realistic chance.

What I suggest is focusing (much) less on your BR. Direct your attention to learning and getting better. Those things are within your control, and if you do them your roll will grow. Looking at the $ first is kind of ass-backward.

thats an excellent return in 2 months , you cant really expect too much more than that in your first few months , it took me 6 months to turn £10 (15 approx)into $100 for me some years ago ,im trying to to similar now and im breaking even ,somedays im up a little and happy next day im down a little and back to where i was , but im trying to ignore this results based mindset and concentrate on getting my foundations strong ,thos im sure will pay dividends in the future

Everyone has basically already stated this, but keep doing what you are doing since it's obv working out for you. Just don't get upset if you loose a few BI's since it's common.
Stay calm and focused and it should all work out itself. Just don't push yourself to hard in reaching your goals. Be patient! It's a virtue.

Cheers

I think the worst thing that can happen to a beginning poker player is that he/she gets lucky in the beginning of his/her poker journey. Immediate success breeds arrogance, a sense of entitlement, and the feeling that the journey will always be profitable. Then when the losing streak comes, the fall is hard, really hard.

Congrats on building your bankroll so far. I wish you nothing but the best but beware, the journey is not as smooth as your experience may have led you to believe.

I would definitely deposit more money to play in higher levels. Remember that not neccesarily big tables have good players, maybe they had money to put into but you surely can be better than them. The trick that works for me is identifying the need in each table.

well the easy way to go from $100 to $1000 in 1 month is to deposit $100 at the beginning of the month and then keep depositing until you have a $1000 bankroll at the end of the month, no risk involved you just need a stable job

well i deposited $100 on full tilt on the first sunday of the month and am aiming to do what you're doing. My bankroll is currently around $630 dollars, which about 85-95% of it is from MTT's really enjoying it at the moment and hopefully i can reach my goal by the end of the month! good luck btw!

The title surely caught my eye, but I appreciate the feedback already presented. It is good to have goals, short- and long- term, but as I have only played live poker, I try and just improve with every game I play.. and of course have some fun along the way.. and I figure that if I continue just doing that, then the dollars will naturally come.

Good luck!

If losing your $100 won't upset you too much, I would recommend playing in $5-10 MTTs with a prize guarantees. You would need to finish in the top 3 a few times.

If losing your $100 would upset you, then give up on the 1k in one month. Because if you aren't going to risk it, you're better off taking it easy. You've done well, you can stay on that path and move up the ranks when you're ready.

First of all, the transition from $20 to $110, as BluffmeAllin previously stated, is s big one. We don't know the frequency at which you play at, so we can't judge how good or bad (regardless not bad at all considering you gained 5.5x your OD), or at least me better know your circumstance. Either way, hypothetically if you continued your run, one may deduce that you will you will make $605 in 2 more month and 2 months later, and $3327.50 in the next two months... and before you know it you'd be at $553,612.81 in a year!!! Wow! What a slow transition...

But in all seriousness as the previous statement was completely hypothetical and didn't take in consideration the change in variances, ranges and all that other fancy smancy stuff that comes into consideration when jumping cash levels (more subtly than we think), and of course yield. If you want the process to become quicker, you could probably try $0.55-$1.10 if you're trying to build a decent bankroll. However if you're more serious, you may want to stick to $0.50 tables until you reach $300 or so before trying out the $1.10's out.

I think that's actually really good.

now me on the otherhand, I really need to tune up my game and stuff and with freerolls have been unsucessful at building my bankroll only winning a freeroll at a time then losing the next few tournaments, then maybe win another freeroll etc.

You should probably be cashing more on these freerolls due to the radical donks. Just tighten up your game... A lot! in the early stages of these tournaments. Use your position on the table to benefit you more (eg. raise/call on the cutoff with a slightly more opened range); and of course loosen up slightly and try to steal more blinds as the tourney proceeds. You should be cashing at least half of your freerolls. Goodluck.
