Hi!

I have checked out pokerschool @ pokerstars and yes I have learned a lot but they do not cover every thing, is there other ways to become better when it come to patience, reading the table cards the right way?

Been playing at poker for some years now and then and have never won anything big, last time a few weeks ago i won 37 usd. When I look at myself I am patience when i qualify but when i am in a tournament i mess it up, how do i work on that?

Read books, play poker. Review your sessions. Watch them if possible to review areas to work on. Join in the forums and discuss variations of ways to play hands.

One thing that has really helped me the most is getting a Hud! It helped me with the math! I recommend getting one. Holdem Indicator is a great one that's free to use on play money and free rolls.

Just like anything else it is important to gather as much information as possible but the only way to improve is to take that knowledge and apply it in various situations. In order to do that you have to play, play, and play. It is also very helpful to go back over your hands and if possible have someone that is a lot more knowledgable than you go over them with you. Like someone already said poker takes time, well being successful at poker takes time for sure... Best of luck

Do you have an example hand? Just wondering what you mean by "mess it up". Maybe sometimes you've made a play that was ok, but got the wrong result?

Hiya Fleeskis. The first thing you have done correctly is join CC, not a bad start I'd say. There are loads of articles on here and you could also look on-line for some books. As rifflemao says you should post some hands, but that is not as important as reading a book, it will stick with you easier I have found. I would say if you qualify easily and then "mess" it up perhaps you have a problem with worrying about the money involved? or putting too much pressure on yourself to win?

Try reading a book by David Sklansky, he has written quite a few, perhaps "getting the best of it" or "the theory of poker", I have found both them useful.

Gl in the future and let's hope we can hear about your successes in the future. :D:D:D

If nothing helps you you must learn on your mistakes. Play more tournaments from micro buy in of 10cents to tournaments of 3$ you should see the differerence beetween playing. Youre playing just for few years there is much more to learn.

A sure way to improve your game is to disassemble your hand, spread them on the poker forums and give the opportunity to comment on the more experienced players.

Learn patience and always stay calm while playing. Always consider your decision and reconsider them again before acting.

experience comes from putting in time.. i don't watch as much videos as I use to . all i watch now, is the wsop re runs, EPTs, and sometimes pokerstar final tables on youtube. I rarely watch videos on strategy, math, psychology, hand reviews nowadays only when i get into doing the homework and wanting to know if im playing my hand ranges correct or if im making wrong moves. I feel this is my weakness, and i need to make a more better effort in working my game,.. but when i do watch mtts, i pay attention to players and watch their actions, and enjoy studying players from behind the screen. you really do catch mistakes and a good plays from the pros.

Continue to watch videos (they are free in most cases), forget tv events, they are distorted for your level of play, read everything you can, practice, find a buddy to shadow and give them your take on hands (it will make you a better player, eliminate leaks), and then get someone to work with you.

It's a process, and if you want to make money and enjoy the game more, you'll put in the effort, if not, cya at the table and beware.

to take your game forward i think viewing videos, reading books, join forums, asking questions, is a must. strategies changes with times what used to work 5 years ago is not effecient now days. so you have to be up to date.

I think practicing is pretty much enough..but i dont say u need to practice on 1$/2$ stakes or toruneys with 100$ buy ins... i mean..theere are always tourneys with 0.10$ or cashgames with minimum of..like 0,20-0,50$..there u can practice because with play money- its not the same. Noone plays seriously and u cant learn anything

www.pokerstrategy.com is a great resource, as is CC like others have mentioned.

I can recommend the Harrington on Hold'em book series for beginner study. Once you're done with that give The Theory of Poker by Sklansky a look. Mostly, however, is to just play!

Learn the math and theory side of things.

Practice as much and see as many hands as you can, but don't just "play", actually step back and analyze all the action etc and how the hand unfolded. Study your opponents and how loosely or tightly they play, how aggressive or passive they are etc. You don't need books to get better at poker, remember people did it before the books were out, and you can to. It's just not easy.
