I've been a losing player well over a year and couldn't understand why. I've researched my results going through thousands of sessions on my Holdem Manager 2 database, only to find that I'm winning more sessions than losing. All my winning sessions combined subtract my losing sessions, conclude that I could be up $4,000 right now if tilt didn't affect me so badly. My regular site is 888 and I own Tilt Breaker but, Tilt Breaker doesn't support 888. So I need help on how to improve my discipline to minus my losses even less than right now.

Last weekend, I was up $500.00 and came Sunday, I took a few bad beats, jump stake after stake, only to have sufficient bankroll management and lost it further in the night. It didn't affect me right away because it was only profit but, now it does.

What can I do to improve my skills in discipline to further stop myself from tilting badly?

No tilt comes with experience.

Develop your psychology, think, read a book. But if already tilt comes - you have to stop the game and go to analyze, why it happened...

You can read also the article on CC https://www.cardschat.com/tilt.php

Hey mate what stakes are you playing? especially to be up $500?

I have a few friends and my brother who plays poker all the time they see the easiest ways to deal with tilt are to stop playing as soon as you feel any rage or you start spewing, take a break for an hour watch some TV listen to some music?

Or if you have plenty of cash take your rage out on something punch the bed a few times scream into a pillow or here is why you need the money, break your mouse or buy a punch bag! Let out all your anger go back with a clearer mind.

Also what is it you get tilted about is it bad beats? Because if so you need to realise no matter how good or bad you play after taking a bad beta if won't affect what has just happened the cards are random just deal with it.

If it is because you have made a pony play then you must sit out for a while have a break come back and play your A game.

These are not all my words i am a newbie just what i have read and been told.

To compensate tilt, you have to follow BR management strictly.

There are a whole lot of different BRM's online with many people having different ideas of the amount of buy ins you should have for certain levels! I think he should opt for more than the standard to compensate.

Write down how you feel when you bust and take a picture of the 0.00 in your account. When you start to get mad look @ that and realize you don't want to go down that road again.

Actually a really good and quite original idea.

I've already done that and it doesn't help. I tilt more so on the fact that I get suck out on more than the average player. Just today, I had yet another losing session b/c people suckout on the turn 95% of the time. I play push and fold though.

I already own the Mental Game. Thinking is given and I analyze if not always, but after I cool down.

i feel to get over tilt the first step is to recognize it then define the moment and actions that started it whether it be a bad beat or bad play by yourself a full evaluation is needed. like ppl always say variance in poker is always there. experience and education to the level of instinctive play still has a variance. tilting is just a mental thing but what gets you there is play. yup just try not to wear it on your shirt sleeve.

good luck WinglessSoldier
oh i found after a bad session getting laid is a good way to ger over it oh hll after a winning session thats good too(excuse me) lmao

Dont know if you can "beat" tilt, but there are ways to minimize its impact

Jerud Tendler on Drag the Bar has some good videos and he has at least one book

Things like breathing, proper diet, exercise, lack of distractions, hydration, getting enough rest- all contribute

If it is really bad then take your money off the poker site when you are running well. For example, say your BR is $500 on a poker site, withdraw $450 to a separate online account.

Then, when you are still on the poker site with $50, you will be a lot less likely to play a game higher than $5, and even if you do the maximum damage you can do is blowing 10% of your bankroll in any given session as opposed to 100%.

There are some articles around on self control in poker. I find myself rereading a few of them when necessary.

I think limiting tilt you have to learn to deal with it . Know what the expectations are for you when you play and consider if you run short or trip up and dont make it if that is 1 of the spots you tilt. Theres a lot more spots but that is a start .
one of the other tilting spots is .... Money .... and I think that is your main problem just from what I read in your main post. Now let me ask you this how do you know its you tilting that is hurting your game and bottom line ? have you had some one you trust look into it to see what their point of view is?
your on the inside looking out and wont get a true understanding of where your leak is . If your losing larger chunks of money due to tilt then it has to be in your play or your understanding of the posiblities. against the other players .

I see you stated your doing fine money wise but you have defined your tilt is keep you from being way ahead . Shouldnt you be way ahead with out the tilt effecting you that much ?

What I am saying is theres some thing more then tilt hurting you bottom line . you shouldnt be tilting that much

How to beat tilt?

Stay within your BRM levels. Remember poker still has some luck involved. Remember in the end poker involves money, but it's still a game. VENT outside the game. Kick a desk, throw a book, but don't vent at the poker table.

Just today someone lost 70-85% of his stack in one hand during cash game. He decided to snap allin. The odds of him getting pocket aces right after a heavy loss was pretty low. I called with pocket 8s and he had K7 off suit I think? Regardless I took the remaining amount of his chips. Tilt is bad for the game.

If you're playing cash game, sit out some hands and wait till you cool off. I have to catch myself sometimes when I try to revenge bet. Leave all the personal vendettas off the table. I know it sounds obvious, but stay on track playing solid poker.

What do you mean by owning the mental game?

There are so many sides of mental game and kinds of tilt.

Have you seen the videos from "Stake me to play"?
