I always try and focus on playing the games I feel like I'm weaker at like stud and razz for an hour or so. It makes you more well rounded so your not just folding non monster opening hands for fear of getting outplayed in the games you don't think you have a edge on the table. A chain in only as strong as it's weakest link and a poker player is only as good as his/her weakest game in a horse tourney

I partially agree with this ^. I could give you many tips, i have spent alot of time playing HORSE. Dont forget if you dont spend time playing stud omahahi/lo razz you will unfortunately never be really comfortable at a final table like setting in HORSE. Getting yourself accustomed to all games played is simply the first step along with the realization of fix/pot limit games!!!!! You need to be adjusted to this fixed/limit games and not no-limit. Good luck watching the bills game GO BILLS!

If it is the HORSE freeroll at Carbon, do not get agro from the git go. Unless of course you are just trying to get lucky.

Horse is a game to be savored, not savaged.

Nearly all of those agro fools are gone by the first break in that game at Carbon.

HORSE is a nice game, in that you have to be knowledgeable in five games instead of just one. The limit nature of it means, the luckbox all-in style play (who don't know the rules) cannot succeed.

The strategy aspect of it in the late stages is something I enjoy

i do love playing horse, but the only game i dont like is razz i know how to play it but i cant stand the game, it will take alot of practice and patience to master horse as there are so many differennt situations to overcome, so basicly spend a while practising with small buyin torneys, and if you cant get the jist of the games ie losing more than winning then its not you're game, stick to what you play best

You must know how to play stud games since this is 3/5 of the package. I play the first round fairly ABC tight aggro and hope to double my chips by the end of the round. The second round is where most people move ahead or go out. You need to play your fourth through seventh streets and be alert to what has been shown on the boards especially cards that have been folded. Fold on third street if you have a garbage hand and always raise on third with a good hand and get the drawing hands out. Don't sit out any of the games. It is impossible to win by not playing every game.

You need to study different aspects of all the game. Most of the players dont even know what hands to play with and the strength of hand. So if you familiarize yourself with this i think you will be cruising through early stages. As field gets narrow you will find real competition. As a beginner play tight and few hands. I have seen players overvalue their hands in draw games and seeing all the streets , avoid such situation. In drawing games try to remember cards folded by others. Study about games and learn strategies to become better player at these games.
I recommend Doyles Super System. It covers beginner to advance concepts of all games.
