Hey me and some of my fellow poker players have created a game (we have yet to give it a name) that I believe is a great poker "drill" for sharpening your skills and understanding various dynamics that need to be considered when making decisions in NLHE. The cards are dealt like holdem and there is a flop turn and river like holdem. What makes this game different is there are no chips, all the action is pf, and you can only shove, fold or call. After the board is out the winner is recognized. You can receive points based on the following rules: Shove and win = 1 points, Call and win = 2 points, Shove and lose = -1 point, Call and lose = -2 points. The player who first reaches 10 points wins and if a player reaches -10 points they are out of the game. The game really hammers home concepts like the benefits of aggression, the gap concept, the importance of position, taking chip stack (or points) into consideration. I think its especially good for tournament poker training. I would like to hear some feedback: Names, improvements, comments, etc. It may seem a little dry just reading but try it out its a blast!

Hmmm, don't think i would apply that stragedy [yea i spelled it that way on purpose] to any real money games. It could become force of habit, and playing like that ain't gettin' ya anywhere. I could be missing something there, but i don't know...........

interesting variant, but a question comes up to my mind thinking in these new rules you describe above:
when you call preflop, it means that after every street could be some action (bet) so the villain could fold if you bet or the other way around or is just call before flop and then you only wait until the whole board is unfolded?

Very fun to play especially if there is a small pot. We have played with a 5 dollar buy in and it makes the games really exciting especially seeing big suck outs and 3 outers hitting the river so on.

All the action is pre flop. The entire board is then unfolded if there is at least a shove and a call with no more action. I like this because this way your decision making is very much weighted in the concepts I described above; concepts that are very important in tournament poker, IMO.
