I am trying to understand high-low poker. I don't understand how it works heads up. If the pot gets split between the high hand and the low hand, wouldn't one player have the low hand and the other have the high hand, so they'd always split. Obviously, this can't always be true or the tournament would never end.

BIG LOL.

Its not always the one player gets the high hand and the other the low hand.

There might be a low hand to appear or not but there will always a high hand to win.

You might even win both the high and low hand or lose both the high and low hand.

When you say "there might be a low hand to appear," is that referring to a rule that some games have that a hand has to be of a certain level to qualify as a low hand? So are you saying in some hands, there is only going to be a high hand that takes the whole pot, and there is no low hand? I do understand from some other research that you could be holding both the low and high hand, or you could have the high hand and tie for the low hand.

It just seems like heads up play would take a long time to sort itself out. Also, does Texas Hold 'em ever get played lowball or high low?
