Hey guys my name is justin i been in the poker world for about 3 4 years Have a poker room in my town but hardly every walk out even or ahead.Play lots of online specialy most recently.Posting some wins but cant seem to build a bankroll i read books study watch learned odds and outs.Would love to build my online poker bank roll ive bought it on FT for 50 like 7 times already and went broke each time.I got like 25.00 left and dont wanna go broke this time would like to start building up.

So please help With replys.I play mostly heads up shootouts 2$ buyin .20 rake i think 1st is $8.00 like ill win one Lose 3.My main problem is i never give my oppents enough credit for a hand and never fold to a check raise or a big bet some times but most time not. Am i playing a bad game to build a bankroll i think im best heads up. My goal is just to get back up to 50.00 and will be patient if have to Thanks guys!

Are you stuck on the idea of playing HU? My first thought is that for most people, that's kind of like jumping into the deep end, largely because it requires playing a lot of hands and making more marginal decisions. For someone who is still trying to get started, I would think it better not to take on more complexity than necessary, at least not until you've built up a better feel for the game.

Try changing to the full ring SNG format with a buy-in of no more than $1. If you like constant action like in a HU match, maybe the $1 Turbo's would suit you better. They still have a high hand rate, but if one of your opponents have your number, there's 7 more that might not.

Another thing to try, if you are into cash games is .01/.02c NL. Buy in full ($2) on two seperate tables. Again, less down time between hands, and you can play a longer session without too much of a hit to your BR.

These are just general suggestions as I really don't know, besides HU shootouts, what kind of games you like to play.

IMO HU is the worst thing for a beginner or even a decent player to play, for the reasons Arjonius has already stated above.

I agree with above comments and believe HU is possibly the wrong way to go, if not and you continue, move down to $1 : 2 players. Otherwise if you're serious about building your br then start playing $1 SnGs and maybe lowest cash tables, although your br is low for both suggestions you have to start somewhere (maybe freerolls?), so gl on the felt.

May i also suggest (as you're new..so welcome that you search through this forum, as it will probably contain many answers to many of your Qs that you may have, i assure you that you will learn loads n loads hehe.

The best way to blow through a small bankroll is by playing heads up, especially if you're just starting out. It would be a lot better to play one dollar 6 or 9 man SNG.(since you only have $25 left). I would play normal speed, to start, because it's the easiest way to play ABC poker. Playing turbo's requires an entirely different strategy once the blinds go up and it takes time to get used to playing them.


Heads Up is not the way to go, unless you really have a good understanding of heads up play. I learned the hard way, I love playing heads up, but I've blown my bankroll many times playing it.
