I've been playing online for awhile and been reading this forum. I think I know but need some help on the poker lingo.

If someone says that they're playing a $100 HE game... doe's that mean that they're playing a .50/1 NLHE, a .50/1 Limit? Is a $200 game a 1/2 NL or Limit?

Doe's winning 1BB/HR mean that a person is profiting the amount of one big blind of the game they're playing per hour?

Thanks in advance for clearing this up.

Ok.. should have seen that.. guess it was the small type. But, the BB/hr thing. If a good player makes 1BB/hr, doe's that mean that on a 200 NL game.. he makes $2 per hour? Doesn't seem like enough.

A winning player wins 1BB/hr which is actually $4.00 confusing I know but BB is the big blind doubled, and that rate of 1BB is over a significant number of hands, like 10,000 or more. Just becuase you played 100 hands are positive does not mean you are winner at that level. A good player will/can have a win rate higher than just 1BB/hr

^^^

Yeah thats true, BB here dosnt mean Big Blind, it means Big Bet (which is double the big blind).

I believe it origionates from a limit term, where the Big Bet size occurs on the turn and river and is double the bet size of the flop and preflop.

3 BB/hr is considered a good winrate.. but you could easily go higher at lower limit games.. maybe 6 or 7 BB is sustainiable.

So at a $200 NL game about $12 / hr would be a reasonable winrate

Also, we mostly consider BB/100, not BB/hour.

With multitabling hands/hour can be really high. I only play 6 to 9 tables and on average i get 500 hands/hour. Some people here play more than 1000 hands/hour.

If you beat 200NL by 3BB/100 and play 500 hands/hours, you actually win 60$/hour, which starts to be decent.
