Hey cardschat,

Kinda new to poker and kinda not. Well I placed 13th place in a bodog freeroll and won ab out $4. Played cash game and went all in with 4 people with a straight and won that one :). Played many sit and gos and grinded up to about $105. From there on I just couldnt win anymore sit n gos and couldnt win much in cash games much either. I only bring about $3-5 of my BR in the cash games and usually switch tables if I cant win. Suddenly my BR just went down and down and down untill I had nothing. I regret not cashing out but would liek to improve my game more. Dont know if it was the site, unluckyness, of if I suck lol. I just really feel like giving up on the poker thing right now after losing so much playing low limits. :( Anybody ever felt that way? Just feel like if i can lose $100 I can probly lose even more..

So I would really like to give it some more shots and seek some stradegy from other and how you would done things different.

Also I might switch to pokerstars since I am able to use pokertracker there but I have not much idea how to take advantage of it! Can anyone help?

I understand the vpi$,Agr,prflrse but dotn know how to put it into action. Anyone that has success in poker tracker do you think you can teach me how you use players stats in certain situations?

Thanks!

Look at all the strategy articles here and figure out where you went wrong. My problem when I began was that I had poor bankroll management and once I got a feel for the game, I strated making dumb moves when I knew HALF of what I needed to vice all of it. I never have used a poker tracker. But seeing as how I play for fun, not for income, I don't feel it necessary to spend the money on it, although I'm sure it would improve my game.

Everyone loses, especially in the beginning. Learning the game, while you continue to lose is difficult... but is also the reason poker isn't for everyone.

Keep practicing, reading, posting, and asking questions. I remember when I started, I always wanted someone to give me "THE ANSWER," but there just isn't one.

Learn the basics, play very tight while you learn, and remember:

It's about hand after hand after hand after hand after hand...

Good luck!

Just as Dayne had mentioned, everyone loses when first starting out online.
You'll find that there are alot of players that are just horrible at playing at those low limits, just don't let it deter you in any way.
Remeber that those bad players are the bread and butter:D .
Aside from BRM. patience, discipline and emotional control will be needed to help you gain money in the online poker world.

emotional control is huge. if you find yourself losing, just leave the table and go eat something or go to the bathroom. anything to take your mind off either a bad beat or a bad play. when you can focus and are not thinking about it, that is the time to go back and play.

Here's some advice for new players.
Learn to fold.
Let them fight.
It's not your job to take out the short stack.
In tourny play just sorta watch for the first hour. If you start out with 1500 chips and double that just watch and learn. Second hour try to double again then watch and learn.
If you try to play to many pots before you understand the game you will normally get creamed.
I have helped lots of new players learn how to cash. It's not that hard.
Good luck and keep asking questions............

Best advice; find your game. Theres a ton of games out there, SnG's, MTT's, or cash games. It seems as if you sort of found out what you were decent at, and stay at that for a while until your bankroll is nice. Then, start to wein yourself off that game and explore a bit other areas, like half of what you are good at and half of something new.

You go to know when to hold em
know when to fold em
know when to walk away
know when to run
you never count your money
when you're sitting at the table
there'll be time enough for counting
when the dealings done
