Twice I've gotten to the final table of the ft $3.30 KO tourney, and got knocked out in 5th and in 6th. What does a player have to do to adjust to final table play in order to win the tournament?

First of all, I feel as though it is important that you don't play conservatively if you want to win the tournament by coming in first. When you come to a final table, it is usually easy to keep folding and folding and and come in around 6th place. If you want to win, however, you have to try to attack the people who are playing conservatively, as you will be able to eat away at their chip stacks if they are waiting for monster cards.

When it gets down to the final table and the blinds are huge at this point, It becomes more luck than skill. It you are shortstacked, you really only have two options, all in or fold. If you are the big stack, you can continue to bully the other shorter stacks on the table.

poker is strange, everbody knows how to do. no sarcasm in it. i totally agree the first two posts. if you play very tight you can just wach a few guys eliminate themselves but later get lost under huge stacks. if you are shortstacked when u arrived, only strategy is praying. if you are chip leader you can bully others.

but if you are not shortstacked and have enough chips to scare, you can play a little agrresive. in final tables top 3-4 get decent money. of them, one usually plays loose aggressive, others play only good hands and sometimes steal blinds. middle stacks too play like that, aggressive players get eliminated or make good chips. but usually at most 4 players are in game, more usually 3 players play a hand. so a A6/K9 / 67s cards are really good cards in those situations. to win, or to be top 3, i think u must be more aggressive and trust such cards more than other times.

Two ways to play

I've found that I do better when I play one of two ways. The first is I slow my play down a great deal especially if I am coming into the table with a very large stack and can stand the blinds and antes. The other is to wait for about one full rotation and then go aggresive aggresive and more aggresive because people seem to get scared their going to lose their stacks as soon as they get to the final table.

the thing with final table play is a lot of people get tighter when it comes... i mean theres only 9 people left and you start thinking about making it down to the last 2 or 3 or getting 1st.. you play tighter and dont play your normal game... you really have to play your usual game.. dont change your style and try and play a different game..
