How do you guys play ace and anything. I been 3 betting, but im starting to think if its not a10 to just chuck it. Also I used to think a2-5 would be better then a6-9 but this poker odds calculater says otherwise. Advise, tips, comments?

in position, you can get away with playing Arag, but generally just muck it. When the A hits in a multiway pot, you're not going to love you kicker. In most cases you're hoping to flop 2 pair and stack off someone with AK or AQ but even after the flop, you still have a long way to go. The board could pair on the river counterfeiting you're hand and now you're stuck in a big pot with a raggedy ace

True that thanks. Been playing more 6 handed lately trying to be aggro, and making a lot of mistakes on ax.

There's being aggressive and there's being reckless, if you're raising with Ace rag in early position who's going to call/reraise? Probably pairs like 99+, AK/AQ/AJ, so in these situations you're either flipping or are a huge underdog. Raising with any Ace on the button in an unopened pot to steal the blinds is often good, but in most cases I wouldn't play weak Aces at all.

I'd say it all depends on the players your playing against...Playing ATC vs passive players has it's merits, and playing A/x vs weak/passive players has its ups and downs..

As already stated A/Rag is a bothersome hand vs alot of players, but it can be profitable vs weak/passive players...Yet shut it down if you get called on the flop (unless you feel you can take them off've it)..

Again same rules apply with 3 betting what type of player are you 3 betting? How many players are in the hand when your 3 betting, what's your position on the table when 3 betting? How often are you 3 betting the original raiser, and what's your image on this table to these players in the hand/left to act of you? Are these players your 3 betting passive/calling station are they the type that (I have a piece and I'm not folding for nothing, irregardless of all the bets that are taking place)? All these things you'd have to consider before making anything vs anyone at any-time..

But in general it's just better to muck A/x pre just so you don't really get yourself into an ugly situation

I almost always muck ax from any position, except when im at bb and no one has raised then i check. But ax hand always get me into a trouble specially when i hit an ace on flop than i have big problem letting it go and it cost me big part of my bankroll. With a suited ace i limp from every position and raise from late hoping to flop the nuts which happens almost never... And again i put more and more money in the pot to try to push out obviously stronger hand then mine and again i lose money...
which would never happen if i just fold then pre flop or better if i learn to let i go when i know that im beaten...
