OMG ok I've watched hundreds of poker videos, know all the pros and their strategies, use to watch my Dad and his friends play when I was little, read poker articles and even these forums endlessly for months (which I find has plenty of conflicting opinions lol) etc. and do eally well with play money (got 12k with 1k starting in my account in a day and while playing 3 tables) + freeroll tournaments (got #13 of 700 was my best). I play on America's Cardroom because I am American.

NOW I don't know why I keep losing in small stakes poker! :(

A few nights ago I did something really stupid and put $150 (what I gathered from pinching pennies for months) into the account for my first deposit. I went to a NL100 table which in hindsight was bad BR management. In my first 10 minutes I won $20 and was really excited, that was the most money I ever made in taht time frame. I kept playing....and playing and now days later hit 0. I was actually doing really well but lost 2 big hands, one where I was 92% favorite before the river. When I got to my last $5.50 I entered a weekly Sunday $3500 Guaranteed tournament and managed to get 40th/750 to make back some money and then went to a NL10 game (where I should have gone at the start...or a NL25) where I went up and down until busting with an all-in preflop move with AKs vs QJo... (he hit 2 pairs on flop).

So that's my story. Why do I do well in play money and tournaments (would have gotten hire than 40th in the last tourney but didn't nap that day from stress and it was already at hour 3 when I made a less than marginal move from tiredness) but can't even play low limit poker?? I'm so frustrated and disappointed it's unbearable.

And I know poker is a cutthroat game and this may be asking too much from anyone here... but can someone help train me on ACR? I have no way to pay you back except in thanks unfortunately unless I make something from your training and can then pay you back. I don't even have any money to put in my account tho until who knows when so the training would be for maybe in a few weeks when I can make a $50 depo.

Thank you.

Forget all the high stakes pro videos and for gods sake forget play money.

real money is a whole different beast.

It's like switching from a kett-car race to daytona - without a drivers license.

A few points:

BRM (Bank-Roll-Management):

You ought to have at least 50 buy-ins for any cash game level.

In your case that would have been 5000$ for 100NL.

Why you started there is beyond me - you were rolled for 2NL not 100NL.

I doubt that you'll find anyone ready to invest the time needed to train you.

Read more here and continue posting until you reach ~ 100 posts.

Then apply for the freeroll club and play the CC freerolls.

There're a bunch of experienced players there and they're really nice to play with.

From that first post it is obvious you have self control issues. You say you read all the books, saw all the TV, read all the forums, but you get into a NL100 game with a BR of 1.5 BI's.? Seriously?

Please tell us you were drunk, and it was really a xmas gift.

Yup, clear lack of discipline is the sub-text of your post. You have learned to gamble but not really how to play poker. It's not something you learn from videos or books, at least not without massive experience and failures along the way. Like other skills and crafts (sculpture, mechanic, dentistry) you cannot expect to be ready to go without lots of hands on. LOTS!!!

It's called poker discipline, number one with only $150 you should went over the dollar table. And then with patients you could have worked your way up. And that would have taken time, the time you needed to learn the game. Now you are stuck playing free rolls, and that's a hard way to learn it!
