It's the same game, I like it way better. Faster paced, more action, bigger swings

You need to open up more compared to full ring games. Its difficult to multitable, as there is much more action.
Dont play to tight, or too loose.
There are lots of good strategy posts about hu on this forum, just search and you will find a lot of digest.

what i found out about playing heads up nl holdem is theres some kind of pattern to the cards, the ace comes up 3 out of 10 and times only 1 out of 3 times with a good kicker also you can win back to back crazy but thats what i've seen:confused:

Don't play heads up or you'll get slaughtered.

In heads up play, you're forced to play more hands (because you're always in the blinds). And because of this, you have to play more weak hands. And beginners are notoriously terrible at playing weak hands.

Stick to full ring or at most, 6-max, where you can play a tight range & limit the number of tough decisions you'll have to face.

I really could do with some advice on heads up play, yesterday playing 6 max sngs I finished 2nd 3 times in a row I need to be converting these to 1st place as the prize is almost twice as big. I know to be more aggressive heads up but if anyone has any advice or could point me in the way of some it would be appreciated.

For sng's, once you make the money, all that matters is making +chipEV plays. Players will be shoving a wide range so you have to call pretty light, and you should be shoving wide too to utilize fold equity.

My only advice is to be flexible in your approach, depending on your opponent's playing style. This can change quickly, and you need to be able to adapt just as quickly.

If he's hyper-aggressive, you'll need to be able to fold a lot of hands, waiting for the opportunity to take back the chips you've given him when the time is right. Don't be afraid to fold the best hand; better to do that than push with top pair and find he already has a straight or trips.

In contrast, if you're opponent is very tight, keep stealing the small pots and don't be afraid to give him the ones he's intent of raising you off of. Think of it as investing, not the lottery, and you should be okay.
