I'll start by making an analogy, imagine a soccer player, before going on the field, they study their opponent, they warm up, prepare their mind, it's still the victory is not guaranteed, football players know they can go through difficult times and have to overcome. This not only in football more in any area of life, and is no different in poker.
No one is going to put a hand on your head and relieve you, quite the contrary, your opponents will want to eliminate you, end your Stacks will still call you Fisher. We must understand that we are competitors, we will have difficulty, more objective of this text is precisely to say that we should prepare our mind for difficult moments, when I myself am head down, I like to meditate, to listen to a good song, to do a walk, to exercise. I mean that the poker player can not simply sit in a chair and start playing anyway. The poker player has to prepare his mind similar to that of a warrior, a fighter, a football player. We must understand that we will have a lot of difficulty, we will have many obstacles, and we must overcome, this is not only for today, more for every day of our lives, you are entering the war when sitting in a chair to play poker, it is a battle everyone the days, prepare your mind, know that the bad moment will arrive, and when it arrives you will be prepared, this will give you much more strength to give continuity.

The bigger your fight, the greater your glory will be.

Have a warrior spirit.

Totally agree with you, usually before I start a tourney I walk some minutes and get fresh air, and even in the 5 min breaks I'm standing at the window focusing on my breath and trying to relax , and hey with this moves and a good strategy I won the CC freeroll, so I hope it will help me in further tourneys :)

Definitely everything you said is true ... in this game of poker only those who have that warrior spirit survive .... in your analogy the warriors can lose a battle but the bravest and strong get up and keep fighting until they win the war .... in poker one can lose an important hand ... however if you are strong mentally and you do not allow the emotions to defeat you ... you keep playing until you overgrow and win the tournament ...!

I totally agree with your report, poker is like a highway, and you can imagine this highway with dust or asphalt, it all depends on where you intend to arrive.
You will have a dirt road if you do not study and perfect yourself in poker, besides dust, you will lose your money and be nervous
you will have a beautiful asphalt highway, if you do everything right, you study your opponents, have a goal, strategies, you will be sure to get where you want
As you said, we do not always win, but when we are ready for sure we are half way to victory.

It's hard for me to keep a warrior spirit for too long as it's constant loss at the moment for me

very cool your text
I also see the poker game in the same way, here in cardschat I have learned a lot in the matter of overcoming in the difficult times ... I see many play with its low stake with warrior spirit, overcoming the bad moment finalizing the tournament in good position

I like your approach and I think the analogy with a tennis player is even more appealing to me especially when you picture Rafael Nadal. It is amazing how he makes his best shots in the most difficult situation for example a tie break. He is not overwhelmed by it, but prepared and in the right state of mind.
He has a certain base where he is playing from with an arsenal of varying shots that he has practised and knows he can make them. Even more he knows that when he makes a certain combination of plays how his opponent will react and what his next move will be to beat him.

I don't think warrior spirit is the best analogy. Warriors usually use violence to achieve something. Warriors usually are never alone on battles. Plus, we all have that animal instinct to cause violence.

Poker is a game of mind, you can have only one arm and one leg and still play poker. We have no instinct to play poker, we have to learn it.

I might be wrong though.

It's hard for me to keep a warrior spirit for too long as it's constant loss at the moment for me

I feel you bro. I get too attached to the results more than I'd like to be. If I find a solution to this problem, I'll warn you, haha.

Cheers

If poker were not a sport of psychological violence, villains would be called nice, sharks would be called starfish. In my opinion, the warrior spirit I'm referring to is that even if we lose players today, we'll be ready for battle tomorrow.

I like your post pretty much, I think it is especially about becoming focused like a warrior, not about the violence, like one mentioned. It is like Zen, to bring your mind up to be concentrated on what you are doing at the moment. Being aware and I think this really much helps in the games.

Interesting post, sometimes I will go into battle with another player, but most of the time I try to make good decisions based on an investment strategy.

I understand your idea, but if it's an ordinary day and a regular tournament, and you are preparing and tuning like a samurai, do you have enough ammunition?

If my knowledge were a shot, I'd say I have plenty of ammunition. More not enough yet, I'm studying daily to complete my arsenal.

I totally agree with you.
Obviously this is for any kind of follow-up in life, regardless of everything, we always have to persevere, have concentration, and when things do not go well, keep in mind that it is only a phase, and that soon you will be able to overcome all obstacles.
And speaking of poker, even for a guy like me who's recreational, I have countless moments that I don't feel like sitting and playing, or because of everyday fatigue, or why I have to do some family activity, or because I have to help my kids with school work, or just want to turn off a little bit of everything and relax.
The most important thing I want to say here is that you don't sit at a live or online table and play just by playing, without focus and dedication, play poker lightly in which you will do your best whether in a tournament or a cash game table.

Good luck at the tables!

Most definitely i go into warrior mode a lil before i play or do anything special. Lol.. Im definitely a hunter not a gatherer thats for sure. Music gets me goin and helps me not concentrate as much on the game and takes the mind away. Good luck.
