Hi, so I've faced a pretty huge swings of bad beats during these weekends.. I mean I've been blown off of 45man's final table with hands like AA vs A3, KK vs A2, KQ vs KJ, AK vs AQ, really not lying when I say it's been like 90% of times i've been allin as a huge favorite, i've come out short.. i really hope this is just cards playing bad on me, but is there any way to not tilt from that? I mean it's annoying, I've gotten in favorite almost everytime

Hope this is the right session, as I really wanna know how to get rid of thinking that it'll always be like this o_O

My best advice is to understand the math involved. Hands like AK vs AQ you are going to lose about 1 in 4. It still sucks to lose as a favorite, but it is still a possibility.

Hold'em manager will show you how many times you are winning and losing when you are a favorite.

It stings more and we remember it well when it happens when it counts the most.

Bad beats are a part of poker. Try not to think about the immediate results but the long term. I try to think about did I play the hand well cause dwelling on variance is going to get the frustrations up, then playing frustrated is going to lose me more than variance will. Take a break and be patient.

If the favourite won every hand the game would be clinical and no fun! Just keep making the right decisions and the law of averages will favour you in the long term.

Congratulate yourself on getting it in good, etc. etc. You have no control over outcome so just let it go.
Weekends you'll find alot of this. If you run good it can be great.

You get used to it after awhile. I get more frustrated at how bad I played a hand than I do at losing to a cooler/bad beat.

You probably already know this, but I try to stay away from allins preflop. I'm not saying that I never go all in, but I try to keep it to a bare minimum. And have a bigger stack than they do, so I got some chips left. It sounds like you got your money in good though. I don't know what all the circumstances, that were surrounding them hands. In the end though we're all gonna get bad beets and give bad beets.

You realise that if you're playing against villains willing to get AIPF with ace-rag or KQ then it's a crime NOT to be getting all the money in at that point with the kind of holdings OP had, right?

One way of avoiding tilt after a bad beat is, rather than jumping straight into another table, coming over to this site and checking the latest posts for ten minutes to take your mind off it (or even blowing off steam by posting yourself about your rancid luck).

I agree. Whatever you do, if the beat is bad enough to unnerve you then the last thing I would do is open another table and play.

Unless you're a zen master that is.

I agree with the above post. If you have 6-8 games going at a time it make it easier. All the posters are correct. Variance sucks and I believe VOLUME off sets variance.

I have started to multitable up to 4 tables now (tourneys) and i find that i will run good on at least one table and end up cashing for an overall profit on the session.
