Hi guys can somebody help me get my head round this. If I have 7/5 (2pair) and opponent has pocket 88s with nothing on table. Does this beat me. Thanks.

The board must of been paired in order for your 7 to be the worst hand he must of has 2 pairs 88 and something on the board

if you had two pair and he's got one then you of course won but if you both have two pair wins a couple of more significance

The only way will be, If on the Table on the 5 cards: flop to river there is another pair higher than yours then his only pair, that is higher, will make him a winner; Did you check for Flush, Straight possibilities?
but If there is nothing on the Table the 2 pairs wins all the time.

It is obvious that 2 pair wins from one. It does not make sense to play poker without understanding the strengths of each poker hand.

Post the hand history, maybe? Be interesting to see what happened.

For this kind of discussion, you need to provide a screenshot. I think there was another pair on the board and that's why the opponent won with pocket 88 and a pair on the board.

Well, he has one pair and you have two pairs. It is obviously that two pairs are better than one pair.

Yeah need to see screenshot or hand history - two pair obviously beats one pair, but it seems highly unlikely that a major poker site would be unable to correctly pick which is the winning hand...

The guy you lost against had 88, which is always a winning hand on 888 Poker, isn't that obvious?

No screenshot or HH = didn't happen.

Post the Hand History if you want to know why.

His two pairs 7/5 will win the hand, if the table does not form any other pair.

Because if the table has 7522K, your opponent of 88 pulls the pot.

Maybe it made a pair on the table and you did not notice, it is always good to take a print screen of these hands, to be able to complain about possible mistakes, a little improbable, more if it happened, you being with something that proves the error is easier to discuss.

It would be highly unlikely that it was a software error. As many members have stated, a screen shot or hand history would be helpful.

Possible hands overlooked by you are
1. With 7-5 on the board and your opponent with 8-8, a 4-6 or 6-9 would give him a straight.
2. He could have drawn 4 cards for a flush.
3. There was a pair on the board. In which case his 8-8 had your best pair 7-7 dominated.

No. 3 is the mostly likely reason. It does happen and is a trap for beginners. I have been playing for years and sometimes have to look back at the replay to check. Good luck with future games.
