So,

I want to say I'm good at poker. I can say that I win more often than most of the people I play with. I can post some stats from my last Hi/Lo stud freeroll on pokerstars:

During current Stud H/L session you were dealt 143 hands and:
- saw fourth street 56 times (39%)
- saw fifth street 47 times (32%)
- saw sixth street 39 times (27%)
- reached showdown 27 times (18%)
Pots won at showdown - 23 of 27 (85%)
Pots won without showdown - 3

I took first in that one and I'm kind of proud of beating 4000+ plus people even if 3500+ of them were fish.

But, I can't say I'm good at poker. I don't know how to analyze my hands. This is a particular issue in texas holdem. I get my money in with good cards and tend to flip from TAG to LAG. Part of me feels that this keeps my opp from getting a quality read on me and part of me feels like I'm making excuses for a patience leak.

I play a lot of freerolls because i lost my bankroll due to a bank error that was not in my favor. PS credited my deposit and then the bank refused it on a down day. It hurt.

Anyway I've set myself a bigger than Fergesun challenge. I want to go from -$17.63 to $10,000. No time limit. I plan to do this by winning freeroll tickets and with the help of more experienced player in these forums. I'll try and post a few hand histories here and there but they may not make for accurate reads being in a freeroll.

Any advice on my rambling would be greatly appreciated.

Specifically:
EV/odds calculations
Hand Analysis
Overall MTT strategy

Thanks,
Brandon

Welcome to CardsChat, and congrats on your MTT win!

If you roam around the site, I think you'll find a lot of useful suggestions on any of a number of topics. Suggest in particular reviewing the Strategy Articles tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen, the Golden Archives subforum, the Strategy and Learning forums, and the Hand Analysis forums - whatever's useful, spend some time there, skim anything you don't find immediately useful and just come back to it later.

There's a weekly discussion topic series for MTT/SnG players that you'll probably want to check out. I think the first topic was ICM, which sounds right up your alley.

gl and enjoy the forum!

The starting bankroll is ($17.63).

That is 17.63 in debt. Below zero. It's a serious challenge.

I haven't achieved much but I'm learning and having a blast.
