whoever gets the low gets half of the pot. In order to win the low, you need 87654 or lower

A Low hand wins half of the pot, If there is no low hand, the high hand wins the whole pot.

Be carefull because if you have A5678 it's quite a bad low hand the best low hand is A3456 because A2345 is a straight.

Wrong, the wheel is the nut low in LO8 and Stud 8. Don't give incorrect advice please.

You're probably thinking of 2-7 lowball, where aces are high, and straights and flushes do not count for low.

Oh, and as far as advice on Stud 8 and LO8, play hands that win the whole pot. You're not playing to split, unless they pot is very multi-way.

The best starting hand possible in omaha 8 is A♣A♠2♣3♠. You have 3 low cards, two suited aces, an overpair that can make top set, and all 3 cards can work together to make straights.

The best possible stud 8 hand is rolled up trips A♣AA♠. However, 3 cards to a straight flush like 4♣5♣6♣ is almost as strong.

So the trick is to make strong two way hands, or make hands that are a lock to win the high, and force your opponent to draw to the low half without odds to do so.
