Yeah basically the title says it all. I have won 150$+ twice for the 2 month period that i have been playing (60$ intial deposit) and some times I just dont have enough time for tournament poker and I just play cash. So basically i've lost over 200$ in cash so I was wondering if I should try and quit all together (it will be hard) or should I read up more on cash games?

to be successful at cash you need to master outs, poker odds/pot odds, and make a profitable calls that will make you a winner in long run, so for example no chasing draws without good pot odds and dont fall in love with a top pair...

People here recommended me little green gook by Phli Gordon, i just started reading it..

Cash games just start at the micros like 2 or 4nl. I suggest learning the fundamentals and try the trial of leak busters and go from there. There are ways to get free subscriptions at training sites. See what you can do to aquire that and watch some micro videos.

You must study more to play cash. That is the bad notice, the good notice is that the variance is less than in the tourney. Look, you have won in tourney but if you're not using a tracking program probably you haven't noticed that you have had very good luck. That isn't bad, but you musn't depend exclusively of that. That is why you should study more to alternate between cash and tournament.
The tournaments that no depend such of the luck are with very slow structures (and are live, blinds going up every hour or two hours), that is a reason to play also cash if you play exclusively online.
I hope you unerstand me, my english is beginer :D
See you in the tables

I'm the same way. I am usually placing in almost every tournament I play, but when I go into a cash game I usually lose all I put down. I just don't understand because I play the same as I would if I was playing a tournament. Also I read phil gordon's little green book and it helped me a little in cash games I don't lose as much any more but at the same time I don't play cash games anymore at all.

I guess I do the exact opposite... I can double up or even triple up during a day at the cash games, but whenever I enter a Tournament, I end up being taken out right before the bubble EVERY time.

I play my cash games relatively tight, mostly based on the maths...

Sometimes, the players at the table which you sit at can be the cause of your bad luck. I have seen some crazy aggressive and coin happy cash game players which were pretty much betting / calling / raising, whatever the hand that was played... It made it hard to go see some flops, or to steal blinds to keep at a steady level.

Not sure that 2 $150+ cashes qualifies you for greatness just yet, but if you are doing well, why are you wanting to move to cash? Time an issue, try single table SNG.

Cash is all about patience and discipline. Being tight has always helped me. I've seen Tag players making more money in the long run than Lag players, even true for live cash games. So if you belong to the former, Cash is a great bet, else you need a lot of practice to get the blood flowing.

tourneys are much easier and automated than cash games. Get good at cash and your tourney game will get even better. I'd recommend playing more cash at lower levels untill you get better at it.

Im in the same boat. You really have to have a sound game in cash games and really pay attention to your opponents. You still have to pay attention in tournaments but some situations just play themselves out.

that poker has become a main source of income and work needs to be done is a very long and hard road. gradually learn the theory and apply it in practice. then maybe it will be with something good.

As a rookie player one struggle that I have with cash games is mentally dealing with the direct hit to the bankroll if I lose a big pot. With tournament poker, there's an additional level of abstraction between your chips on the table and your bankroll, because no matter what happens in the tournament your loss is limited to your buy-in.

I know that we're supposed to treat our bankrolls as just numbers on a screen instead of in real money terms, but I'm not that far along yet:(
